Octopus Energy

Octopus Energy started with a bold idea: to build Britain’s first truly digital energy supplier.

By combining world-class tech with brilliant humans who care deeply about customers and driving the renewable energy transition, we made it happen and in 2025, we became Britain’s largest energy supplier.

Now, we’re scaling fast and building the next generation of products to accelerate the green energy transition. From making it effortless to switch to heat pumps, solar and EVs, to launching smart tariffs and creating renewable generation at scale, we’re solving some of the most complex challenges in energy with speed, creativity and customer obsession. We’re also enabling our global businesses to reach the full capability of what we’ve achieved in the UK, taking the learnings, products and experiences that customers love here and rolling them out worldwide.

About the role

Our mobile app is how millions of customers interact with Octopus every day. It's global first, lives across multiple countries, and is growing fast. We need a Product Manager who can own the product direction for key areas of the app, navigate a complex stakeholder landscape, and ship features that genuinely make customers' lives easier.

This is a role where you’ll be fully embedded with engineers and designers, shaping what we build and how we build it. You'll coordinate across country teams, balancing local needs with a global product vision. And you'll do it at startup pace, because even though we're big now, we still move like we're small.

At Octopus Tech, you'll have real ownership, variety, and the chance to shape products that make a tangible difference in people's lives: lowering bills, enabling greener living, and delivering experiences customers genuinely love. You'll work side by side with teams across marketing, operations, and data, and see the impact of your work in the real world, fast.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Owning the product roadmap for your area of the mobile app, setting direction and making the calls on what gets built and when.
  • Coordinating across Octopus's global markets. Our app serves customers in multiple countries, so you'll navigate competing priorities, align stakeholders, and find the right balance between local needs and global consistency.
  • Working closely with engineers, designers, and data teams to define problems, shape solutions, and ship iteratively.
  • Defining technical requirements for dependencies on other teams and clearly communicating priority to external teams.
  • Developing, testing, and releasing features with scalability in mind.
  • Scoping larger underlying system changes and making pragmatic decisions about sequencing.
  • Monitoring existing customer journeys and new releases, using data to drive decisions and catch issues early.
  • Collaborating with local Operations teams to test changes and debug issues with live journeys.
  • Regular touchpoints with Marketing to identify trends, issues or improvements across funnels.
  • Working across multiple teams (Marketing, Ops, Credit, Design, country leads) to build shared understanding and drive alignment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
