About The Role

The Principal Product Manager (Technical) role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of Mastercard’s Architecture function within the RTP International (VIL) program. This program facilitates real-time and bulk payment flows across six international economies, forming a core component of Mastercard’s A2A multi-rail strategy. The successful candidate will join a newly established, high-performing team dedicated to delivering a robust, secure, and resilient payment infrastructure capable of handling a transactional volume of approximately 20 billion transactions annually. The role involves strategic oversight of the architectural design, resilience, modernization, and growth initiatives of critical payment systems. It requires a deep understanding of payment processing, settlement, liquidity management, and the technical infrastructure that supports these services. The position offers an opportunity to influence the future direction of Mastercard’s international payment solutions, working closely with clients, regional teams, product development, and engineering to ensure seamless, scalable, and compliant services.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a senior product management or architectural role within the payments or financial services industry
  • Strong understanding of payment processing, settlement, liquidity management, and related financial services
  • Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, including with regulators and large clients
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with senior executives, technical teams, and regulators
  • Knowledge of global payment standards such as ISO 20022 and legacy messaging formats
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, API strategies, and modernization initiatives
  • Experience in designing resilient, secure, and compliant payment infrastructure solutions
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate cross-functional teams
  • Strategic thinking with a customer-focused approach and problem-solving aptitude
  • High level of personal integrity, ethics, and professionalism
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multinational environment

Responsibilities

  • Articulate and promote the resiliency features of RTP products to clients and internal stakeholders, emphasizing their role in critical national infrastructure
  • Define strategies for adopting and modernizing payment channels, balancing legacy systems with API-based formats like ISO 20022
  • Leverage deep knowledge of business services such as payment processing, settlement, and liquidity management to support client conversations and future needs
  • Engage with clients and regional teams from project inception to understand emerging requirements and develop tailored solutions
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to share insights, best practices, and expertise across existing and prospective markets
  • Create and maintain long-term technology and architecture roadmaps aligned with client needs and Mastercard’s strategic goals
  • Ensure compliance with architectural governance frameworks, especially in regulated markets involving critical national infrastructure
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure solutions meet service delivery, audit, and control standards
  • Use success metrics to monitor operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement
  • Identify and explore new growth opportunities within current and emerging markets, engaging with customers as needed
