About This Role
Job Summary
Apex is seeking a Product Manager II to own the entire Investor Communications and documents product within the Ascend Platform. You will be responsible end to end — from requirements gathering through defining and achieving your product's success metrics — for all investor-facing regulated and transactional communications, including statements, trade confirmations, tax documents, and proxy/shareholder materials. You will manage the product backlog independently, with guidance, strategic steer, and escalation support from the Senior Product Manager, and work closely with other Product Managers across the Ascend Platform on related initiatives. You will write clear requirements, coordinate with Engineering, and work with document generation and delivery vendors to ship accurate, timely, audit-ready communications for our B2B2C clients and their end investors. AI tools (e.g., Claude) are a core part of how you'll work: gathering and synthesizing requirements, prototyping concepts, and standing up MVP products and operational tooling to move faster from problem to working software. You'll partner with Compliance, Operations, and adjacent product teams to resolve dependencies and bring customer insight back into the roadmap.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Responsibilities
End-to-end product ownership
- Own the entire Investor Communications and documents product end to end: gather and write requirements, prioritize and manage the backlog, ship features, and define and drive the success metrics that prove it worked.
- Write PRDs and user stories with clear acceptance criteria for medium-to-large features; communicate status to the team and stakeholders independently.
- Work closely with other Product Managers across the Ascend Platform to align on shared standards, dependencies, and timing.
AI-assisted requirements, prototyping, and MVP delivery
- Use AI tools (e.g., Claude) to gather and synthesize requirements from stakeholders, transcripts, tickets, and documentation.
- Prototype product concepts and workflows with AI-assisted tools to validate ideas with stakeholders before committing engineering time.
- Build and deploy lightweight MVP products and operational tooling (e.g., internal dashboards, automation, agents) using AI-assisted development, partnering with Engineering on anything that needs to scale to production.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to apply AI to reduce manual operational work within your workstream (e.g., QA, reporting, reconciliation).
Success metrics and continuous improvement
- Define the success metrics for the Investor Communications product (e.g., delivery success rate, e-delivery adoption, time-to-generate, defect rate, bounce rate) and own driving performance against them post-launch — success metrics are your accountability, not just a reporting exercise.
- Run root-cause analysis for incidents and drive fixes through to resolution.
- Own client migration execution from legacy systems to Ascend.
Cross-functional collaboration
- Work closely with other Product Managers across the Ascend Platform to prioritize and resolve inbound/outbound dependencies.
- Share customer and market insight back to the wider product team; may mentor more junior team members.
- Represent the Investor Communications product in client- and stakeholder-facing conversations
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of product management experience, with 2+ years working on investor/regulated communications, document generation platforms, or high-scale messaging/notification systems in fintech, brokerage/custody, or wealth management.
- Track record shipping features on API-first, event-driven, or microservices-based products.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude) to gather requirements, prototype concepts, and build and deploy MVP products or operational tooling — this is a core, required skill for the role.
- Proficiency writing SQL to query and analyze product and delivery data — required
