Product Manager

Full time – 5 days/35 hours per week

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Product Manager, or an aspiring Product Owner ready for the next step, to join a fast-paced high growth PE backed global software provider and help shape the direction of our investigation software within the Product team.

Our Altia

By being a trusted technology partner, we empower the government, public and private sector with actionable intelligence solutions to combat increasingly complex crimes. Specialising in crime reduction, we help make the world a safer place.

Initially based in the UK, Altia has grown significantly in recent years through expansion of international operations. We currently have a team of around 90 employees, supporting a wide variety of clients globally.

Our clients include law enforcement agencies, government departments and agencies, regulatory & tax authorities, and private sector customers – who all trust and rely on our investigation software to help them deliver targeted results. Our solutions significantly save time on investigations and reduce costs in areas such as criminal and civil investigations, fraud and financial investigation, incident and investigation management and a variety of covert fields.

Our experienced team is dedicated to providing our clients with the support and care they need, ensuring they are able to get the most from our ever-evolving specialist investigation software solutions.

The role of Product Manager will be based at our Nottingham office and you will be reporting to the Director of Product. Whilst we operate a hybrid working policy, you will be expected to attend the office on a regular basis following completion of your induction and training.

This is a product role with an unusual design constraint: what we build gets tested in court. Our customers’ work is picked apart by defence teams and inspectorates, which means ours has to stand up too. It is demanding, and it is the best design constraint we know — it makes the thinking sharper, the evidence better, and the product more defensible.

We are looking for a career product person: genuinely close to customers, with the commercial instinct to tell what matters now from what matters next, and the judgement to decide which problem to solve first.

Our business is still growing and now is an exciting time to join our friendly and self-motivated team! At Altia we have a common mission and vision that underpins all that we do. We act with honesty, integrity, and mutual respect towards our customers and one another, working as one team. Our commitment to this is showcased through our achievement of the globally recognised Great Place to Work certification for the second year running. We embrace challenge in order to ensure the most innovative and relevant solutions are developed, always with the end customer in mind.

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to be security vetted. For this reason, you must have been in UK residence for 3 continuous years prior to employment and provide proof of address for the previous 5 years. If you do not fit this criteria and also know that there may be anything hindering you from being vetted successfully, then you will not pass initial screening as security vetting is required by every Altia employee.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The Role

Drafting documentation has never been faster. It still has to be done, done well, and done differently, now that agentic AI sits inside the delivery lifecycle. What has not become easier is the judgement underneath it — knowing which customer problem matters most, what to build first, and what will still matter in three years. That judgement is what this role is for.

You will have exposure across the whole Altia portfolio — case and intelligence management, financial investigation, open-source intelligence, and critical incident management — working closely with the Product Managers and Product Owners already here. Your focus will settle on a defined area of that portfolio, designing capabilities and AI skills around how investigators actually work, finding the differentiators, validating them with the market, and building on the agentic AI work already well underway.

Our customers are law enforcement agencies, regulators, government departments and financial crime teams in the UK and internationally. Because their work is scrutinised, ours has to be defensible. Our approach is human-led and AI-accelerated: everything we build must be capable of being explained, evidenced and stood behind.

This is a dual-horizon role. You will keep the depth needed to make good product decisions alongside delivery teams, while lifting your focus toward market differentiation, customer discovery and commercial impact. You will report to the Director of Product and operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer discovery and insight. Lead structured discovery — interviews, research, workshops and customer advisory groups — and stay genuinely close to the people who use our software. Define user segments, personas and end-to-end journeys, and identify the moments that matter most.
  • Product strategy and roadmap. Shape the long-term vision for your products alongside the Director of Product, own the near-term roadmap, and make and defend prioritisation decisions that balance customer value, commercial impact and delivery feasibility.
  • Market intelligence and differentiation. Maintain a current, actionable view of the competitive landscape. Identify whitespace, emerging trends and threats, and translate them into strategic recommendations. Articulate why our products win now and why they will still win in three years.
  • Commercial impact. Treat commercial outcomes as a first-class product concern. Understand the levers — upsell potential, churn risk, licence utilisation — and make sure product decisions contribute to revenue growth, retention and expansion of ARR.
  • Agentic AI in the product and in the process. Design AI capabilities and skills around real investigative workflows, holding the line on transparency and defensibility. Help evolve our product artefacts and ways of working now that agentic AI sits inside the development lifecycle.
  • Go-to-market and positioning. Partner with Sales, Marketing and Altia Solutions on value propositions, positioning, launches, tenders and competitive responses, and contribute to pricing and packaging decisions informed by market and customer insight.
  • Product planning and feature design. Lead requirements definition, produce clear and well-scoped user stories with robust acceptance criteria, define MVPs and release candidates, and resolve scope questions quickly during delivery.
  • Delivery team collaboration. Keep delivery teams supplied with a well-prepared, clearly prioritised backlog and agreed sprint goals, validate what is built against what was specified, and act as the point of escalation for product decisions during a sprint.
  • Product expertise and enablement. Act as an internal authority on your products, resolve complex questions from Sales, Support and customers, and work with Support to turn recurring issues into strategic solutions rather than tactical workarounds.

What you can bring to the role:

  • A career in product management, with evidence of owning a roadmap and influencing strategic decisions — or experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst who is ready for the step up.
  • Genuine closeness to customers. You seek them out, run your own research, and form your own view rather than relying on second-hand accounts.
  • Commercial instinct — a feel for what impacts revenue now and what positions the product for what comes next.
  • Judgement under ambiguity. The ability to decide which problem matters most and what to build first, and to explain and defend those decisions to customers, colleagues and the board.
  • The confidence to ask the awkward questions early — of customers, of colleagues, and of your own assumptions.
  • Comfort working with agentic AI as part of both the product and the process, with a clear-eyed view of where it helps, where it needs a human in the loop, and where it must never be relied on unsupervised.
  • The ability to synthesise market data, customer insight and usage analytics into clear, evidence-based strategic narratives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence across commercial, technical and operational teams.
  • Experience working in or alongside agile delivery teams, with a clear understanding of backlog management and requirements definition.
  • An interest in — or experience of — regulated, evidential or investigative environments where what you build has to withstand external scrutiny; for example policing, law enforcement, regulatory bodies, financial crime, insolvency, defence or national security. Desirable rather than essential: we will teach the domain to the right product person.
  • Product Owner or Product Manager certification (e.g. CSPO, PSPO), or the willingness to pursue one.
  • Be comfortable with continuous improvement plans and ready to embrace change.

What we can offer you:

  • Salary Range: Competitive
  • Contributory Auto-Enrolment Pension Scheme
  • Company Life Assurance Scheme
  • Company Sick Pay & Income Protection Scheme*
  • Private Health & Dental Insurance (optional)*
  • Enhanced holiday entitlement of 30 days per year plus bank holidays
  • Access to well-being support, including our Employee Engagement Programme
  • Volunteering Scheme/time off policy
  • Continual Development & Training
  • 35 hours per week (FTE)
  • On-site parking
  • Strong local transport links.

*subject to probationary period
