STRUMIS Product Owner
Derby, UK (with potential for hybrid work) • Reports to the CTO • Leads a team of 3
Look out of any window in any city and you’ll see our customers’ work: stadiums, bridges, warehouses, towers. Behind almost every one is a steel fabricator, and behind thousands of those fabricators is STRUMIS, the software that runs their estimating, purchasing, production and delivery.
It’s a product with real weight behind it. And it needs an owner.
45,000+ daily users 70+ countries 3 global offices
Why This Role Exists
STRUMIS leads its market, and our ambitions have outgrown a roadmap that can manage itself. We are growing from a single flagship on-premise suite into a family of products: new cloud offerings are on the drawing board, AI is moving from buzzword to backlog, our reach is extending from steel into sustainable engineered timber, and our customers keep asking for more. We need one person to own the whole product picture: someone who can protect what makes STRUMIS indispensable today while building what our customers will depend on tomorrow. You will report straight to the CTO, lead a product team of three, and have the senior leadership team, our sales and support teams, and 45,000 daily users to keep you honest.
Three Challenges on Your Desk
01 Keep the leader leading The core STRUMIS suite is the market leader, and it stays that way only if someone fights for it. You will own its lifecycle and roadmap, weigh customer-driven requests against strategic bets and technical debt, keep a feedback loop running from sales and support back into the product, and watch the market, from steel fabrication innovation to the competition’s next move. 02 Make AI earn its place Everyone has an AI story. Ours has a rule: it ships only where it delivers real customer value. You will find the problems worth solving, drive AI capabilities that make a tangible difference for fabricators, and keep us from ever doing AI for its own sake. 03 Take STRUMIS to the cloud Our next generation of cloud product offerings is being designed now, and you will help shape it from the ground up: what we build, who it serves, how it extends and complements the suite our customers already rely on, and how it reaches the market.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A Typical Week
Sprint planning with your team of three, shaping the next iteration. A roadmap session with the CTO. A demo alongside the sales team for a prospect who needs to see the product sing. A hard call between a support escalation and next quarter’s priorities, and it’s yours to make. A backlog refinement where a customer request becomes a clear, buildable requirement. Somewhere in between: a competitor teardown, a cloud design discussion, a conversation with a fabricator that changes your mind about something. No two weeks are the same. The thread that never changes: everything must earn its place in the product.
