Company Description
Depop is a peer-to-peer circular fashion marketplace where anyone can buy, sell, and discover secondhand fashion. Our mission is simple: to make fashion circular by making secondhand as exciting and rewarding as buying new.
Founded in 2011, Depop’s diverse community has helped move resale into the mainstream, where buying secondhand is no longer an alternative, but how people of different ages now engage with fashion. Today, more than 56 million registered users come to Depop to find great value, express their own personal style, and give clothes a longer life. We believe that everything you want already exists, and our role is to help people discover it.
Powered by a team of over 500 people, our company is headquartered in London, with offices in New York. In 2021, Depop became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Etsy - the global marketplace for unique and creative goods - and continues to operate as a standalone company. For more information, visit www.depop.com.
We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome, no matter who they are or where they’re from. Just as our platform connects people globally, we believe our workplace should reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. We thrive on the power of different perspectives and experiences, knowing they drive innovation and bring us closer to our users.
We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer, providing employment opportunities without regard to age, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, sex, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy or maternity, marriage and civil partnership, or any other protected status. We’re continuously evolving our recruitment processes to ensure fairness and are open to accommodating any needs you might have.

We are looking for a Product Manager to join the new Core Payments team at Depop.
Core owns the platform, compliance, and infrastructure that every payment on Depop depends on: authentication and balance protection, tax and regulatory obligations, the expansion of Depop Payments into new markets, and the reliability and cost of every transaction we process. It is the foundation the rest of our payments products are built on.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a role for a Product Manager who is energized by complex, high-stakes platform problems. You'll own a roadmap that spans expanding Depop Payments into new markets meeting marketplace tax and regulatory reporting obligations as Depop scales, protecting user balances through authentication and MFA, and improving the authorization rate and cost of every transaction we process.
Some of this work is non-discretionary - compliance obligations that have to happen regardless of product priorities - and some of it is among the highest-leverage growth work at Depop: operating on Depop Payments drives meaningfully higher checkout conversion, and every market we expand into unlocks new payment methods for buyers and a better payout experience for sellers.
Much of this work is invisible when it's done well. You'll work in a product trio with Design and Engineering, and partner closely with Finance, Legal, Tax, Fraud, Trust & Safety, Payments Operations, and CX, as well as external partners such as Stripe. The best outcomes here reduce risk and cost while keeping the experience calm and low-friction for legitimate users.
Responsibilities
- Own the product strategy, roadmap, and delivery for Core Payments, spanning market expansion, compliance and tax, authentication and balance protection, and payments reliability and cost.
- Deliver Depop's regulatory and tax obligations - such as marketplace reporting requirements and tax infrastructure resilience - working with Legal, Finance, and Tax to translate regulation into shippable product work and to manage financial and reputational risk.
- Partner with the fraud team to protect users and their balances by defining and delivering authentication experiences that mitigate account takeover risk while keeping friction light for legitimate users.
- Partner with Payments Operations on authorization rate and cost optimization - initiatives like 3DS strategy, payment retry, and network enablement - prioritizing the product work that unlocks them.
- Champion operational foundations: the data, reporting, and internal tooling that operations and support teams rely on to resolve payments issues quickly.
- Make evidence-based prioritization decisions across a portfolio that mixes growth opportunities, non-discretionary regulatory or platform work, and platform maintenance, and communicate trade-offs clearly to leadership.
- Define and track success measures such as authorization rate, cost per transaction, and payments P&L.
- Partner with Payment ops to work with external partners and vendors, including payment processors and tax providers.
Requirements
- Experience as a Product Manager shipping products end-to-end, ideally on platform, infrastructure, or systems-heavy teams.
- Comfort operating in complex, technical domains - able to earn the trust of engineers and understand system-level trade-offs.
- Strong analytical skills: fluent in using quantitative data and commercial modelling to size opportunities, prioritize, and measure impact.
- Experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders beyond the product trio, such as Finance, Legal, Operations, or external partners.
- Ability to run a roadmap that balances growth initiatives against non-discretionary regulatory or platform work.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including translating complex technical or regulatory topics for non-specialist audiences.
