Product Manager / Product Owner - Customer Conversion & Payments
Location: London - Hybrid working (2 days a week in central London)
Contract: 12 Month FTC
Salary: £65-80k (not daily rate)
We are working with a fast growing, multi-channel UK retailer to find a Product Manager / Product Owner to support one of their core, customer facing product domains, on a 12 month FTC.
You will work directly alongside the Lead Product Manager for this domain, providing hands on product and delivery support across a roadmap that is too big for one person to own alone. This is not a pure Product Manager role and not a pure Delivery Manager role - you will sit somewhere between PM, PO, BA and delivery, taking broad, epic level problems and turning them into clear, deliverable work with engineers and end users.
This suits someone earlier in their product career looking for more scope and ownership, and not someone used to a narrow remit with a large support team around them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you will be doing:
- Take broad, epic level problems and break them down into user stories, tickets and acceptance criteria
- Get out and work with store colleagues, field sales teams and other end users to understand real problems before defining solutions
- Work directly with engineers to refine scope, clarify edge cases and unblock delivery
- Own backlog prioritisation, balancing quick wins against larger pieces of work
- Bring structure and clarity without needing every requirement fully defined upfront
- Support the shift towards greater self service capability alongside the existing assisted sales model
What we want to see:
- Background as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Business Analyst or in a hybrid delivery role - what you have actually owned matters more than your job title
- Genuine hands on experience turning ambiguous problems into deliverable work, not just running ceremonies or writing status reports
- Experience working directly with non-technical or operational end users to shape solutions
- Comfortable with ambiguity and happy to work without a fully defined brief
- Confident working closely with engineers, without needing a technical background yourself
