Product Manager – Operational Technology & Mobilisation
Salary: Up to £83,000
Location: London 3 days a week
Employment type: Permanent
We’re partnering with a major transport organisation to appoint a Product Manager who will lead the coordination of technology solutions supporting a growing portfolio of major transport contracts.
With a significant pipeline of commercial opportunities, this is an important role spanning competitive bids, technology strategy, mobilisation and operational readiness.
This isn’t a traditional digital Product Manager position focused on websites, apps or managing a single backlog. You’ll coordinate a broad ecosystem of operational and back-office technology, ensuring proposed solutions are integrated, commercially viable, scalable and ready to support live operational services.
The technology landscape may include ticketing systems, onboard technology, CCTV, telematics, depot infrastructure, scheduling platforms, data services and back-office systems.
The role
You’ll act as the central link between bid teams, Product Managers, technology specialists, Finance, Procurement, operational teams and third-party suppliers.
From shaping technology propositions and supporting commercial submissions through to mobilisation and live operation, you’ll ensure contractual and operational requirements are translated into practical, supportable solutions.
You’ll also help establish standardised and reusable technology propositions, reducing unnecessary complexity and avoiding the need to design every new solution from scratch.
Key responsibilities
- Shape and coordinate technology solutions for competitive bids and tenders.
- Translate contractual and operational requirements into clear product, technology and delivery inputs.
- Coordinate roadmaps, priorities and dependencies across multiple product areas.
- Work with Finance, suppliers and product teams to develop credible technology cost models.
- Document commercial assumptions, risks, dependencies and delivery requirements.
- Support procurement, supplier selection and commercial discussions.
- Lead technology mobilisation planning following successful contract awards.
- Coordinate delivery sequencing across operational, product, technology and supplier teams.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, supportable and aligned with the wider technology strategy.
- Identify opportunities to standardise, consolidate and reuse technology across future commercial opportunities.
- Facilitate workshops, governance forums and senior stakeholder discussions.
- Maintain oversight of contractual, regulatory, security and audit requirements.
- Provide clear reporting on progress, risks and decisions to senior leadership.

What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who combines technology delivery, commercial thinking and strong stakeholder leadership.
You may currently be working as a Product Manager, Technology Programme Manager, Technology Bid Manager, Mobilisation Manager, Integration Manager or Solutions Manager. Your experience and the complexity of the work you’ve delivered matter more than your current title.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Experience contributing to competitive bids, tenders, RFPs or major commercial proposals.
- The ability to shape and coordinate technology solutions across multiple systems and suppliers.
- Experience taking a contract, service or technology programme through mobilisation and into live operation.
- Strong programme or project-management capability, including governance, dependencies, risks and delivery planning.
- A good understanding of systems integration, enterprise technology and operational environments.
- Commercial awareness, including experience working with cost models, supplier estimates and delivery assumptions.
- Experience working closely with Finance, Procurement, operational teams and senior stakeholders.
- The confidence to challenge assumptions and bring clarity to complex, cross-functional decisions.
- The ability to balance individual contract requirements against strategic roadmaps and reusable solutions.

Particularly relevant experience
Experience within passenger transport would be highly advantageous, but it isn’t the only route into this position.
We’re also interested in candidates from:
- Passenger transport and rail
- Transport technology and intelligent transport systems
- Logistics and fleet operations
- Aviation
- Utilities and infrastructure
- Systems integration and technology consulting
- Other regulated, operationally critical environments
Exposure to ticketing, fare collection, fleet telematics, CCTV, scheduling, depot technology, operational systems or data platforms would be especially valuable.
