Team Overview
Regulatory Operations is a growing team responsible for designing, implementing & leading all aspects of BlackRock’s regulatory processes. Our team is part of the Technology and Operations function at BlackRock that makes up around one third of the firm’s employees!
The Regulatory Operations team plays a key role; we own many of BlackRock's most sophisticated and critical regulatory reporting processes. We also act as the translation layer between Legal & Compliance, Technology and Operations teams. Working in Regulatory Operations provides you with opportunities and challenges to develop your skills and make an impact within our business!
We are looking for a Regulatory Specialist, Periodic Reporting to help the team as we supervise BlackRock’s regulatory data production and reporting. The team covers various types of regulatory output such as sustainability (SFDR, TCFD), costs and charges (MIFID, PRIIPs, UK CTI/CMA), Risk Based Capital (Solvency II) and Financial Crime. This critical process delivers regulatory data to reports which provides clients more transparency into their investment and allows them to satisfy their regulatory obligations. We are looking for a new Vice President to join us to specialise in one of these areas.
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys taking ownership to find solutions to diverse challenges, thinks creatively, possesses the confidence to have an opinion and thrives under close scrutiny and tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with our controls team to coordinate accurate and timely delivery of regulatory and industry standard regulatory disclosures
- Drive improvement and automation of oversight controls
- Understand and document key regulatory rules and industry guidance
- Partner with L&C and other teams to assess the impact of upcoming regulatory change and lead projects to implement data/process changes
- Work with technology and business team partners to support key business objectives, providing requirements and participate in testing
- Build and provide performance metrics to key partners
- Stay up to date on regulatory trends impacting BlackRock
Knowledge/Experience
- Ability to interpret regulatory text and assess impact to the business. Ideally, experience of regulatory data (for example SFDR, MIFID, PRIIPs, Sol II, Fin Crime) or other regulations impacting financial services, particularly asset management
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mind set and attention to detail
- Exhibits strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to clearly communicate objectives and articulate the rationale behind those goals. Able to find compromise with conflicting requirements or points of view
- Self-motivated: able to show initiative and come up with ideas without prompting
- Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- Technical proficiency, ability to navigate in-house applications
