We're looking for a driven and collaborative Product Owner to join our R&D team in Dalgety Bay. In this key role, you'll work closely with Software Development teams to shape product direction, prioritise development activity, and ensure we deliver high-quality solutions that create real value for customers. Requirements

The Product Owner is responsible for helping to define, organise and deliver product improvements that meet customer needs, support business priorities and align with the product roadmap. Working within the R&D team and closely with Product Management, the role ensures that product requirements are clearly understood, prioritized and translated into practical work for the development team.

The job holder will manage and maintain the product backlog for key products within the VITEC Group, including new features, enhancements, defects and bug fixes. They will gather and clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria and help ensure that development activity remains focused on delivering value, quality and timely outcomes.

This role acts as an important link between Product Management, R&D and other stakeholders. The Product Owner will support effective communication, help manage competing priorities and use customer and product knowledge to guide decisions throughout the development process. The role is central to ensuring that planned product work is well defined, achievable and delivered in a way that supports both business objectives and a positive user experience.

Job Requirements

  • Product Requirements: Translate stakeholder needs and product strategy from Product Management into actionable user stories, requirements and acceptance criteria for the R&D team via the R&D tool (Jira)
  • Prioritize Development Work: Create and maintain the feature backlog, prioritize items based on the product roadmap to ensure the product delivers the highest possible business value.
  • Product backlog management: Ensure work in progress meets product requirements through acceptance and UX criteria, guiding changes as needed before and after completion.
  • Work Closely with Development Team: Guide the development team on how to build features and interactions using domain knowledge and set development priorities in accordance with the product roadmap and R&D process and technologies.
  • Ensure Development Process Compliance and Transparent reporting: Collaborate with the development team leads and Program Manager to ensure the process is followed, and deadlines are met. Report any deviation compared to initial plans ensure all stakeholders are informed.
