FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Product Owner

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Data Product Owner to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that will be based in London 2 days a week with travel to Manchester (expenses covered) every fortnight.

We are supporting a major Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) transformation within a leading UK Banking organisation. The programme is establishing a strategic Enterprise Data Platform that enables Business Banking teams to consume trusted, governed and high-quality data through a Medallion Architecture framework (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

We are seeking an experienced Data Product Owner to lead the definition, prioritisation and delivery of Business Banking data products and consumption capabilities within the Enterprise Data Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Business Banking data product roadmap within the Enterprise Data Platform programme.
  • Define and prioritise data product backlogs aligned to business outcomes and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the primary interface between Business Banking stakeholders, delivery teams and platform engineering teams.
  • Define business requirements, user journeys and acceptance criteria for Business Banking data products.
  • Ensure Business Banking data consumption requirements are translated into deliverable technical capabilities.
  • Drive alignment between Business Banking priorities and Enterprise Data Platform objectives.
  • Prioritise development of Gold-layer data products and consumption services derived from Bronze and Silver data domains.
  • Work closely with Data Architects and Tech Leads to ensure data products comply with Medallion Architecture principles and enterprise standards.
  • Define success measures, KPIs and value realisation metrics for data products.
  • Manage dependencies, risks and delivery priorities across multiple workstreams.
  • Present progress, priorities and outcomes to programme governance forums and senior stakeholders.
  • Support adoption of agile and AI-enabled delivery practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
