Data Product Owner

Data Product Owner | Financial Services Transformation Programme
We are supporting a major financial services transformation programme and are seeking an experienced Data Product Owner to lead a strategic data domain through a period of significant platform and business change.
This is a high-impact role for someone who can operate at the intersection of business and technology, defining how data delivers value to the organisation while driving alignment across senior stakeholders and delivery teams.
The successful candidate will own their data domain end-to-end, translating business objectives into a clear and prioritised roadmap, managing competing demands, and acting as the primary decision-maker between business consumers and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the business-facing strategy and roadmap for a key data domain.
- Define, prioritise and manage requirements based on business value and organisational objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Drive product decisions and maintain alignment with strategic goals.
- Manage senior stakeholder expectations and resolve competing priorities.
- Ensure successful delivery of data capabilities through major platform transformation initiatives.
- Champion the adoption and effective use of data products across the organisation.
- Measure and communicate business value delivered through data initiatives.

Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Data Product Owner, Data Product Manager, or equivalent role.
- Experience owning a business-critical data product, platform or domain.
- Demonstrable track record of delivering through significant technology, platform or organisational change.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior business leaders.
- Experience operating within complex, enterprise-scale environments.
- Ability to translate business challenges into clear, actionable delivery plans.

Desirable Experience
- Financial services, banking or other regulated industry experience.
- Experience working on enterprise-wide data transformation programmes.
- Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
- Familiarity with Databricks and/or dbt.
- Experience working closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers and delivery teams.
Contract Details
- Rate: Up to £650 per day
- Engagement: Inside IR35
- Duration: Initial contract running through to December, with potential for extension
- Location: London (subject to confirmation)
- Start Date: ASAP / Short notice preferred
