Senior Data Product Owner – AI & Machine Learning
Location: Full time opportunity, London office 2 days/week
Salary: £650/day outside IR35
Employment Type: 3 month initial contract
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Product Manager to lead the shaping, prioritisation, and delivery of data, analytics, AI, and machine learning products across a complex enterprise environment.
This is a senior product ownership role, sitting at the intersection of business strategy, data, technology, and delivery. You will translate strategic business objectives into clear product visions, outcome-focused roadmaps, prioritised backlogs, and measurable value.
You will act as a key connection point between senior business stakeholders, data teams, and delivery partners, ensuring products solve meaningful business problems and deliver measurable outcomes.
The role will involve taking AI and machine learning products from discovery and project delivery through to launch, adoption, and ongoing product management, ensuring they are scalable, well governed, user-centred, and capable of delivering sustained business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead assigned AI, machine learning, and data products through discovery, development, and launch, transitioning products into an effective BAU product management model.
- Define and manage product vision, strategy, roadmaps, and prioritised backlogs based on business value, user needs, delivery capacity, and emerging opportunities.
- Establish and track product success metrics, using adoption, performance, and business outcome data to inform prioritisation and investment decisions.
- Lead product discovery to understand user needs, validate assumptions, and identify opportunities for innovation through analytics, AI, and machine learning.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to define product vision, desired outcomes, success measures, and prioritised requirements.
- Work closely with data engineers, delivery partners, and project/programme managers to shape delivery plans, manage dependencies, remove blockers, and deliver against agreed scope, quality, timelines, and value.
- Own product scope and prioritisation, managing changes through clear impact assessment, trade-offs, and stakeholder communication.
- Provide senior product leadership across adoption, benefits realisation, and ongoing product performance.
- Ensure AI and machine learning products are developed responsibly, with appropriate consideration of data quality, governance, transparency, user impact, operational readiness, and ongoing support.
- Coach and challenge stakeholders to improve understanding, adoption, and value realisation from AI and machine learning products.
- Contribute to delivery governance, benefits tracking, product performance measurement, and senior stakeholder reporting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
