What To Expect
The Product Owner - Core Branch Technology is accountable for defining, shaping, and continuously evolving the core technology platforms that underpin branch operations, including transaction processing, settlement, financial flows, and integration with enterprise systems.
This is a product-led role, responsible for setting the product strategic direction, vision, and long-term evolution of the core branch technology estate. The role ensures that platforms deliver measurable value to the business, maintain financial and operational integrity, and support the wider enterprise technology strategy.
The role sits at the centre of a major transformation programme to modernise legacy systems, with a strong emphasis on SAP-based ecosystems (including S/4HANA and associated finance and retail platforms) as the foundation for future capability. The Product Owner is accountable for ensuring that the evolution of these platforms aligns to enterprise architecture, financial control requirements, and long-term product sustainability.
Working closely with Finance, Technology, Transformation, Architecture, and Operations, the Product Owner ensures that core platforms are resilient, scalable, and integrated, supporting high-volume, business-critical branch services. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
