About Covecta

Covecta is building the AI platform that optimises the Financial Institution. We embed the competence of a seasoned banker into how financial institutions operate at scale - starting by running individual tasks, advancing to running entire credit and compliance processes end-to-end, and building toward a bank that monitors, decides, and optimises itself.

Our agents do the work - they don't just update the system of record. That means the quality of our product is inseparable from the quality of the credit thinking inside it. This role exists to make sure that thinking is world-class.

The Role in One Line

You are the credit conscience of the product. You bring real commercial underwriting experience and turn it into agents that reason like a seasoned banker - then you stay close enough to customers and to our own systems to prove those agents perform, every time.

This is a rare blend: part domain authority, part product shaper, part quality guardian. It suits someone who has underwritten commercial credit for real, is energised by what AI can now do for banking, and wants to shape the product rather than just advise on it.

What You'll Own

  • Shape the credit offering. Define and prioritise how Covecta handles the core of commercial lending - financial spreading and modelling, sensitivity and scenario analysis, and early-warning indicators at both customer and portfolio level. You decide what "banker-grade" means for each capability and hold the product to it.
  • Encode seasoned-banker judgement into agents. Work hand-in-hand with the Applied AI team to translate how a good underwriter actually thinks - the questions they ask, the red flags they catch, the covenants they watch - into agent behaviour, datasets, and decision logic and the experience we deliver to our users.
  • Own evaluation and quality. Design and run the evaluations that prove our agents perform as expected. Build and curate the test cases, define the pass bar, review agent output against real credit standards, and make sure that when something drifts, we catch it before a customer does. Our evaluation framework is existential to the business - you are central to it.
  • Support customers alongside Commercial. Sit with prospects and clients during demos, pilots, and rollouts. Translate their credit processes into what Covecta can do, spot where an agent needs tuning to a client's covenant types or risk appetite, and be the credible voice in the room who has done the job the customer is doing.
  • Be the bridge. Connect three worlds that don't usually speak the same language - credit, product, and AI engineering. You make the underwriters' reality legible to the builders, and the builders' capability legible to the bank.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Hands-on experience as a credit analyst or underwriter in commercial/corporate banking - you have personally underwritten commercial credit, not just managed people who did.
  • Deep working knowledge of financial spreading and modelling, sensitivity/scenario analysis, and credit risk assessment across the commercial lending lifecycle.
  • Fluency in the mechanics of commercial credit: cash flow analysis, collateral analysis, covenant setting and monitoring, early-warning signals, and portfolio-level risk.
  • A genuine passion for how AI can change banking - you believe seasoned banker intelligence can be encoded in software, and you want to be the one who does it.
  • The rigour to define what "good" looks like and the honesty to hold a system to it, even when it's your own product.
  • Excellent communication - able to hold your own with a CRO in the morning and an ML engineer in the afternoon.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with credit, ratings & capital models
  • Prior work in a product, data, or transformation function inside a bank - or at a fintech.
  • Familiarity with how AI/LLM systems behave, and an intuition for where they need guardrails.
  • Experience across more than one asset class or lending segment (SME, mid-market, corporate, CRE, specialist/mortgage).

Who This Is For

This role will suit you if you've spent years inside commercial credit and have started to feel the limits of the tools around you - the manual spreading, the work that never gets done because there aren't enough hours, the signals that were always there but no one could see. You want to build the thing you wished you'd had, and you want your judgement to scale beyond the deals you can personally touch.

You'll be joining early, with the scope to define a function rather than inherit one, and the direct line to product and engineering to make your ideas real.

Why Covecta

  • Your expertise becomes the product. Not a slide, not a stakeholder interview - the actual thing customers use.
  • Scale your judgement. The best banker in the building can only be in one place at a time. Here, your thinking runs across every deal and every portfolio.
  • Shape a category early. Join at Series A stage with the influence to define how AI does credit, and share in the upside.
  • Bankers being bankers again. We're not here to replace judgement - we're here to free it from the busywork that buries it.

The Package

  • Competitive Salary £95k - 110k
  • Generous equity
  • Private health insurance
  • Pension
  • Brand new Macbook
  • Annual offsite

Covecta is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to building a team as diverse as the institutions we serve.
