Job Title: Product Owner, Electrical Engineering Software
Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-time
The Job
As Product Owner for the Electrical application, you will work with colleagues across Engineering & Schematics, including testers, developers, scrum masters, product owners, and management, to improve and evolve product capabilities. You will help translate electrical engineering requirements into clear user stories, support backlog prioritisation, and ensure the product delivers high-quality, fit-for-purpose outcomes for customers working in industrial electrical design environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed user stories that capture electrical engineering requirements and support high-quality product deliverables
- Manage and refine the product backlog so business and customer requirements are clearly documented and prioritised
- Ensure user stories include enough detail to support accurate estimation, development, and comprehensive test scenarios
- Engage with internal and external reference groups, customer workshops, and Voice of Customer discussions to gather and validate requirements
- Participate in sprint ceremonies to communicate status, demonstrate deliverables, and support validation of the product vision
Essential Requirements
- Degree-qualified, or equivalent experience, in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Proven industry experience in electrically intensive sectors such as process plant, power generation and distribution, marine, oil and gas, food and beverage, or similar regulated industrial environments
- Proven experience in leading a team to deliver effective projects or programmes.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including LV/MV/HV distribution, control systems, and instrumentation interfaces as they relate to CAD-based design workflows
- Experience producing, reviewing, or issuing electrical design deliverables such as:
- Single-line diagrams
- Schematic and wiring diagrams
- Cable schedules
- Equipment layouts
- Panel drawings and termination drawings
- Good knowledge of electrical engineering standards, codes, and working practices, such as IEC, BS, IEEE, project standards, or client specifications

Desired Skills and Competencies
- Practical knowledge of design lifecycle management, including document control, revision management, and handover requirements within electrical projects
- Ability to use electrical engineering expertise to deliver fit-for-purpose product capabilities that create customer impact
- Knowledge of ETAP or similar power system analysis and simulation tools is an advantage.
- Curiosity to learn from customers, industry practice, and internal teams to evolve electrical design workflows and product adoption
- Clear and reliable communication, with the ability to build trust and deliver standards-aligned outcomes across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Hybrid Working
We work in a hybrid way at AVEVA. Most roles are based at a local AVEVA office, with an expectation of being on-site 50% of your working hours to support collaboration and connection. Some positions are fully office-based depending on the nature of the work, and certain roles that support specific customers or markets may be remote. The working arrangement for this position will be confirmed during the hiring process.
