Product Owner — Engineering

The Role
Location(s): London, Manchester, or Bath (your preferred choice)
Based in one of Netcraft’s UK offices, you’ll serve as the Product Owner, aligned to one of our Engineering Departments and supporting 2–5 engineering squads. This role is central to strategy execution, cross-team alignment, and high-impact delivery.
Day to Day Responsibilities
- Help manage your teams’ backlogs, including prioritisation, refinement, and alignment with the Netcraft Product roadmap.
- Identify cross-team dependencies and escalate blockers effectively.
- Work closely with sales, account teams, and other stakeholders to understand client needs.
- Represent the needs of customers and stakeholders within the engineering team.
- Help define and maintain:
- User-centred product requirements
- User stories
- Acceptance criteria
- Gather and analyse:
- Customer feedback
- Usage data
- To augment market research and competitive intelligence
- Collaborate with engineering teams in a mixed sprint and kanban environment to ensure successful delivery.
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure:
- Roadmap priorities are well understood
- Execution is effective and timely
- Deliverables are on schedule
- Build and maintain strong relationships with:
- Key customers
- Internal stakeholders
- Define and track key product metrics and KPIs.
- Where necessary, help create wireframes of features/functionality to facilitate internal discussions.
- Present local team roadmaps to internal audiences.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining marketing collateral, providing input on:
- Product positioning
- Value articulation
- Support compliance with security standards and regulations in product development.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- 5+ years of product ownership experience, with at least 3 years in B2B SaaS.
- Excellence in:
- Stakeholder management
- Cross-functional collaboration
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
- Experience with:
- Agile methodologies
- Product management/workflow tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
- Experience facilitating effort and duration estimations using various methods.
- A track record of successful product launches and feature releases.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.
Bonus Points If You Have
- A background in the cybersecurity market, ideally at a SaaS vendor.
- Experience helping teams manage R&D workloads alongside conventional software engineering.
- A technical background with an understanding of:
- SDLC tooling
- Cloud infrastructure
- APIs
- Security principles
- Experience working with distributed global teams.
