As the Product Owner for Financial Risk Solutions
You are responsible for shaping and delivering innovative product solutions in Trade Finance, Foreign Exchange (FX) and Derivative products. You will be the voice of our customer: driving high standards, innovation, and continuous improvement to create brilliant experiences and outcomes across our products and services.
Through analysis and detailed assessments you will consistently check that our products meet the evolving needs of our customers/target markets, our own business goals and continued adherence to our legislative and regulatory commitments.
You will champion a customer-centric approach, using customer insights, market intelligence, and data-driven decision-making to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement in the customer journey.
You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; build strong partnerships across the organisation and its partners; and foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You will own the vision, strategy and roadmap across the products. This will entail leading the end-to-end transformation agenda for these products: simplifying processes, modernising platforms, and introducing digital capabilities that improve service, efficiency, and customer outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this role, you'll be based at your nearest regional office or hub. We value time spent together to connect with colleagues for collaboration so there will be a regular requirement to attend our Glasgow, Edinburgh or London office site approximately once per quarter. If you are based at an office location, you'll be expected to meet our hybrid working requirement of at least two days a week, or 40% of your working time if part-time, in the office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
