The Role

We're looking for a dynamic Product Sales & Business Development Manager to join the Howden Compressors Sales & Proposals team in Renfrew, Glasgow.

This is a high-impact commercial role focused on securing complex, high-value compressor package projects across global Energy and Industrial markets. The successful candidate will join a large packaging division specialising in Screw and Turbo Compressor technology, working alongside Product Sales Managers and a bid team of professionals, while collaborating with a global network of Business Development Managers across Chart/Howden.

Rather than traditional business development, the focus of the role is leading the full proposal and bid process for complex Screw and Turbo Compressor packages through to purchase order placement. You will act as the key interface between customers and internal stakeholders, developing winning technical and commercial solutions while coordinating engineering, proposals, procurement, project management and operations teams. Howden's compressor technologies support a wide range of applications across Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Wastewater and Industrial markets worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technical solution selling, managing complex bids, and working directly with EPCs, licensors, end users and contractors on major industrial projects. Travel is ad hoc rather than constant and is typically around 20-30%, with assigned territories and customer responsibility determined upon joining the business.

Who Are We?

Howden has been at the forefront of developing engineered solutions for industrial processes since 1854, with a portfolio that includes compressors, blowers, fans, steam turbines and rotary heat exchangers. Our technologies support critical applications across energy, industrial processing, petrochemical, wastewater and infrastructure markets worldwide.

Following the acquisition of Chart Industries by Baker Hughes, Howden is now part of one of the world's leading energy technology companies. Together, Baker Hughes and Chart combine market-leading capabilities across rotating equipment, compression, industrial gases, LNG, hydrogen, carbon capture and other energy transition technologies, creating a unique platform to support customers throughout the entire energy and industrial value chain.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
