James Walker is part of the James Walker Group of Companies, who are a successful global Industrial organisation supplying high performance sealing products and solutions. With state-of-the-art material technology skills, the James Walker Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of the James Walker Group specialises in the provision of sealing solutions (elastomers, polymers, composites, engineering plastics, high nickel alloys). Our worldwide group of companies has operations, sales and service entities across Europe, Middle East, India, Australia, New Zealand, SE Asia, South Africa and North and South America.
Your Role
The Product Specialist's main purpose is to develop profitable business within a given territory from your own endeavours with the support of the Global Sales Manager. This will include the introduction of new accounts and growing the sales from existing accounts. The role varies from planning and delivering persuasive pitches, to on-site technical problem solving. The requirements will include the feedback of information to allow a technical proposal to be submitted by the internal sales team. The role would also require assistance on site installation when required.

Key Responsibilities
- Using your hunting skills you will be responsible for the generation of new and profitable business revenue.
- Uncover customer requirements, apply a consultative approach and a creative and positive attitude to examine the customer needs.
- To proactively arrange appointments with potential/existing customers by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network.
- To identify and negotiate with the decision makers within a customer organisation.
- Manage the business risk to a mutually beneficial solution.
- Prepare and manage your sales budget, pipeline tracking and reporting, forecasts and attainment of revenue objectives.
- Manage KPI targets, e.g. gross margin, sales growth, new customers.
- To represent James Walker Townson at exhibitions, events and demonstrations.
- To work across the business managing relationships with other departments at all stages of the sales process.
- Maximising networking opportunities and attendance at conferences, events and trade shows to increase awareness of James Walker Townson and develop a further network of contacts.
- A team player, working closely with the relevant internal and external sales teams.
- To maintain specified Quality Management procedures and standards consistently.
- To continuously demonstrate commitment to learning; Company products and services.

About you
Preferred Skill & Experience
- Contractual exposure within a Sales role
- Understanding of Engineering Drawings
- Mechanical Engineering Experience
Essential Skill & Experience
- Experience of working in a Sales orientated role.
- Presenting to various levels of a business
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering
- Time served Mechanical/Maintenance Apprentice
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum qualification in Maths and English. GCSE level A-C or level 4 or above.
