Product Sales Specialist (PSS)
Role Overview
The Product Sales Specialist (PSS) will report into the Head of Metals & Mining Specialist Sales. You will be instrumental in working alongside the wider sales team to achieve the segment’s commercial targets, while driving knowledge transfer across the business.
We are looking to diversify our talent pool and bring in best practice from other industries to enable us to reach our ambitious growth targets. This is your opportunity to grow your brand within the business and externally.
Main Responsibilities
- Product and sector expertise:
- Develop a deep understanding of the value of our metals & mining solutions to our customers and a good understanding of the metals & mining sector to support new business identification.
- Act as an internal ambassador for the metals & mining business, supporting communication of product enhancements and market developments across the organization and working with teams including sales, customer education, customer success, marketing, research, and consulting.

Growth mindset:
- Partner closely with Vertical Sales colleagues to identify and develop new commercial opportunities within existing customer accounts by understanding client workflows, uncovering unmet needs, identifying new buying centers, and demonstrating the breadth of Wood Mackenzie’s metals & mining suite to address those requirements.
- Collaborate with New Client Development Sales team to support new business opportunities across the sales cycle, including qualification, validation, and understanding customer needs, while demonstrating the breadth of Wood Mackenzie’s metals & mining solutions and how they solve clear customer problems.

Territory planning:
- Develop, regularly maintain, and own a sales plan for your territory. Identify key growth markets, needle-moving opportunities, and risks within your existing portfolio to plan your time effectively and develop a sales strategy and tactics.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to build and execute on your plan, including Vertical Sales, other Product Sales colleagues, Customer Success, Research, and Consulting.

Product development collaboration:
- Work closely with the Product and Research teams to help shape the metals & mining product development roadmap based on customer feedback, your experience and knowledge of customer workflows, and relevant competitor intelligence.
- Support new metals & mining product and service development launches.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate a deep knowledge of the metals & mining industry.
- Have significant experience in client-facing, consultative, pre-sales, or technical / solution specialist roles.
- Have experience engaging with mining companies, banks, or investment funds and a strong understanding of their workflows.
- Have an extensive commercial track record in supporting client development and acting as a trusted subject-matter expert.
- Be a self-motivated and energetic individual, solution-oriented, and results-oriented.
- Have a proven track record of collaborating with different internal teams to achieve commercial success.
- Demonstrate outstanding judgment in resource utilization and optimization.
- Be passionate about growing the business and have a genuine interest in developing and growing yourself.
- Have an intellectual curiosity about how data and analysis solve critical business issues.
- Show effective organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage your own workload effectively.
- Previous experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce would be an advantage.
- Professional working proficiency in an additional language relevant to the EMEA region is desirable.
