Product Security Architect – Regulatory Requirements
Contract - £600-700 per day - Outside IR35
We’re looking for a hands-on Product Security Architect to help software and firmware teams turn the EU Cyber Resilience Act into everyday engineering practice.
This is not an audit role. You’ll work alongside development teams and turn what the CRA requires into clear security requirements, controls and patterns that they can build into their products and services. You’ll show them what good looks like, why it matters and how to get there.
What you’ll be doing
- Translating CRA (Regulatory) obligations into practical technical guidance, engineering patterns and minimum evidence requirements
- Embedding secure-by-design, threat modelling and security risk assessment into the normal development lifecycle
- Reviewing product architectures and trust boundaries to identify the right controls and how to verify them
- Helping teams produce clear, proportionate and auditable evidence of compliance

What you’ll bring
- Strong practical experience in software, application or product security within development environments
- A proven ability to turn regulatory or security requirements into clear engineering controls
- Solid grounding in secure SDLC, secure coding, threat modelling, security testing and third-party dependency risk
- Credibility with engineers, architects and technical leads, and the ability to influence without becoming a blocker
- Excellent communication, facilitation and coaching skills

Nice to have
- Hands-on knowledge of the EU Cyber Resilience Act
- Experience with embedded, firmware or connected products
- Security tooling and automated testing in CI/CD pipelines
