About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Security Engineer to join our team in Derby or Bristol. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects across our core business segments: civil aerospace, defense, and power systems. As a Product Security Engineer, you will be responsible for safeguarding Rolls-Royce products against a broad spectrum of security threats, including cyber, supply chain, and physical security risks. You will be involved at various stages of the product lifecycle—from concept development and design to integration, testing, and final production release. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, manufacturing, and maintenance, you will contribute to the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and best practices. This role provides a unique chance to address complex technological challenges, influence security strategies, and grow your expertise in systems security engineering within a global leader in engineering innovation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Software, Controls, Systems, Cybersecurity, or related engineering discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field with or without experience, or JD/PhD
  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Security Engineering on cyber-physical embedded systems (preferred)
  • 4+ years of related engineering experience (Systems, Software, Electronics, Manufacturing)
  • Familiarity with complex systems engineering and systems thinking
  • Deep knowledge of embedded systems and cybersecurity principles
  • Experience with security standards such as RMF, NIST SP 800-160, DO-326, DoDI 5000.83 (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills for influencing and explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Secure Cyber Resilient Engineering (SCRE) of products throughout their lifecycle, providing technical guidance and direction
  • Develop, implement, document, and maintain security policies, procedures, tools, and training programs
  • Lead small teams or projects in security-related initiatives, providing technical leadership and mentorship
  • Collaborate with government agencies, customers, suppliers, and industry experts to meet security requirements and standards
  • Develop and disseminate best practices, techniques, and policies for systems security and resilience across the organization
  • Assess and mitigate security risks associated with cyber-physical systems and embedded products
  • Work across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure security is integrated into design, development, and operational processes
  • Stay updated on emerging security threats and technological advancements to enhance product security measures
