Housing Sector Specialist
Location: UK, remote with client and team travel (ideally London or Manchester)
Reports to: Product Manager
Working alongside: Product Managers, Development Team and housing sector clients
Compensation: Base plus variable compensation
Mission
Help Ctrl AI build and ship trustworthy, high-quality product for the housing sector. You'll bring first-hand knowledge of how housing complaints and disrepair claims really work, and use it to shape, test and validate what the platform produces before it reaches landlords, housing associations, law firms and other practitioners.
In this market, a wrong or unsupported output can affect tenants' homes, landlords' regulatory standing and the outcome of litigation. Your work directly underpins the platform's core promise: evidence-grounded, auditable outputs that practitioners can rely on.
The Role
This is a hands-on product role that combines housing expertise with rigorous quality and data analysis. It isn't a deeply technical engineering role.
Your value comes from knowing what a good housing output looks like and judging whether the platform meets that standard. Examples include a well-structured disrepair claim assessment, an accurate chronology of repair reports, a defensible view of liability and quantum, or a complaint response that would stand up to Housing Ombudsman scrutiny.
You'll be the housing subject-matter expert in the product team. You'll work with Product Managers on requirements and evaluation criteria, with the Development Team on testing and validating fixes, and with clients to understand their workflows.
Housing data is often sensitive, messy and inconsistently structured: repair logs, tenant correspondence, surveyor and expert reports, inspection records, photographs, complaint files and pre-action letters. You'll compare platform outputs against what an experienced practitioner would expect, and show the team where the product performs well and where it needs attention.
Your Focus Areas
Housing Domain Expertise
Translate your knowledge of disrepair claims, complaint handling and social housing regulation into product requirements, test scenarios and quality benchmarks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Quality Assurance and Evaluation
Systematically test housing outputs for accuracy, completeness and defensibility, catching errors, gaps and edge cases before they reach clients.
Data Analysis and Feedback
Work with structured and unstructured housing datasets to spot patterns and anomalies, and turn findings into clear, prioritised feedback.
Core Responsibilities
- Act as the housing subject-matter expert for the product team, advising on how disrepair claims, Housing Ombudsman complaints and landlord repair obligations work in practice.
- Define what "good" looks like for housing outputs, building gold-standard examples, test cases and evaluation criteria grounded in real practice.
- Evaluate and test the data and outputs produced by the housing solution, providing structured quality assurance before release.
- Check that outputs correctly reflect the legal and regulatory framework, including landlords' repairing obligations, the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims, fitness for human habitation, damp and mould requirements, and the Housing Ombudsman's Complaint Handling Code.
- Identify errors, inconsistencies, anomalies and edge cases, and trace patterns across datasets to help the team find root causes.
- Give clear, actionable feedback to Product Managers and developers, and confirm that fixes resolve the issues raised.
- Support client conversations and discovery where sector knowledge adds credibility, helping the team understand how housing associations, local authority landlords and law firms work.
- Maintain and improve QA processes, evaluation frameworks and documentation as the housing solution grows, and contribute to other sector solutions where useful.
- Handle sensitive tenant and case data responsibly, in line with the platform's evidence-grounded, auditable approach.
What You Bring
Housing sector experience in one or more of these areas:
- Housing disrepair claims, acting for claimants (tenants) or defendants (landlords), for example as a paralegal, litigation executive, fee earner or solicitor at a claimant firm or a landlord panel firm.
- A housing association or local authority landlord, for example in disrepair, legal, complaints, repairs or compliance teams.
- The Housing Ombudsman Service, working with or for the Ombudsman, or managing Ombudsman complaints and determinations from the landlord side.

Knowledge and Skills
- A working understanding of the disrepair and complaints landscape: the Pre-Action Protocol process, surveyor and expert evidence, liability and quantum, damp and mould (including Awaab's Law), the Complaint Handling Code and consumer regulation of social landlords.
- A data-oriented mindset. You're comfortable with case files and datasets, spot patterns and anomalies, and form clear judgements about quality. You don't need to be highly technical, but you think analytically and pay close attention to detail.
- Some experience with spreadsheets, case management systems, databases or analytics tools (such as Excel, SQL or BI platforms) is a significant advantage, even at a working level.
- The discipline to test methodically, document findings clearly and follow issues through to resolution.
- Healthy scepticism: you ask whether an output is actually correct and defensible, not just plausible, as you would when reviewing a file or a claim.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with precise, useful feedback for product, technical and client-facing colleagues.
- A self-starter, comfortable juggling priorities in a fast-moving product team. Product, tech or legal-tech experience is welcome but not required.
