Product Technologist

Accessorize is looking for a Product Technologist to work within our Technical Services team, with experience in jewellery, hair accessories and footwear. Experience in children's accessories is desirable.

What will you do as a Product Technologist?

  • Build close working relationships with Category Teams (Buying and Design) to support product strategy, including sustainability targets.
  • Support Buying from initial prototype through to production sign-off (including critical path management and adherence), working closely with Buying and Design teams to ensure quality and safety are designed into products from the outset. Conduct risk assessments during the initial development stage to ensure products are feasible, safe and legally compliant.
  • Work with suppliers to achieve the most cost-effective production methods while delivering the required quality standards.
  • Ensure all product testing is effectively managed and maintained, with quality processes consistently followed to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Liaise closely with the India and China QA teams to ensure effective tracking of product testing and leverage their knowledge of suppliers to better understand supply base capabilities.
  • Review returns data and customer feedback to ensure products meet customer expectations and drive improvements where required.
  • Liaise with our Distribution Centre Quality Control team on any quality inspection queries and follow up with Buying teams and suppliers as required.
  • Develop a strong understanding of supplier technical capabilities and manufacturing processes. Occasional overseas travel may be required.
  • Work with the Technical Manager to monitor upcoming legislative changes and ensure Buying, Design and suppliers are informed in a timely manner.
  • Carry out regular store visits to review product ranges and gather feedback on any product-related issues.
  • Regularly analyse returns reports to identify quality concerns promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage the Due Diligence testing programme for jewellery and hair accessories.

What will you need to succeed as a Product Technologist?

  • Proven experience as a Product Technologist or in a similar technical role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience within a quality or technical role covering accessories, particularly jewellery, hair accessories and footwear.
  • Knowledge of jewellery construction techniques, including casting, plating, assembly methods and hallmarking, together with an understanding of quality and safety standards across ladies' and children's jewellery and hair accessory categories, would be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify, investigate and resolve quality issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, certifications and sustainability practices.
  • An interest in developing knowledge across other Accessorize product categories to provide support and cover when required.
  • Strong product enthusiasm, a positive and collaborative approach, and the ability to build excellent working relationships as part of a high-performing team.
