Product UI/UX Lead
Your Mission
The purpose of this role as Product UI/UX Lead, is to own the design of the customer journey and the prototyping of the user interface for our core business-focused service. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the centre of a fast-moving start-up: you’ll translate complex, governance-led product thinking into interfaces that feel simple, intuitive and trustworthy for the business customers who rely on them.
You will report to the Product Director and work in close, day-to-day collaboration with the Technical Director — pairing design and engineering closely together to underpin the rapid launch and development of our AI-native service. You’ll be joining early enough to shape not just the product, but how design happens.
In the context of the mission to help organisations deploy technology responsibly by understanding their existing estate, proactively managing conflicts and aligning this within the wider market context to identify growth opportunities and pragmatically manage risk. Specifically, you will build the best economics of intelligence in terms of how you develop the product portfolio and stay ahead of competitors.
The Role
The Product UI/UX role is a technical role sitting at the intersection of product, technology and customer insight. You will take ideas from concept through to validated prototype, working closely with other team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end customer journey design, from early discovery and mapping through to detailed interaction design.
- Own UI prototyping, producing high-fidelity, testable prototypes that move quickly from concept to something engineering can build.
- Partner closely with the Product Director to translate product strategy and governance requirements into clear, well-structured user experiences.
- Work together with the Technical Director and engineering team to ensure designs are technically grounded and can be shipped at pace.
- Use AI tools throughout your own workflow — for research synthesis, journey mapping, rapid prototyping and design iteration — to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
- Design interfaces that make a business-focused, governance-led service feel clear, approachable and effortless for professional users.
- Establish and evolve design standards, patterns and a prototyping toolkit appropriate for a young, fast-scaling AI-native product.
- Run and interpret user research and usability testing, feeding insight directly back into the product roadmap.
- Champion the customer’s voice within product and engineering discussions, balancing speed with craft.
- Continuously look for better ways of working — in your process, your tools and your output.

Profile
- 5+ years’ experience in a Product Design, UX/UI, or Service Design role, ideally including some ownership of end-to-end customer journeys.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating customer journey design and interface prototyping for complex, business-facing (B2B or enterprise) products — governance, compliance, fintech, or other regulated-adjacent domains are a strong plus.
- Confident, practical use of modern design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma or equivalent), and genuine enthusiasm for working with AI tools to accelerate design and development.
- A naturally curious, continuous improvement mindset — someone who asks questions, tests assumptions and treats every release as a starting point rather than a finish line.
- Comfort operating in an early-stage, fast-changing environment, where priorities shift and ambiguity is normal — someone who leans into that rather than waiting for certainty.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work as an equal partner to both product leadership and engineering.
- A pragmatic understanding of how to balance speed, quality and craft when helping launch and grow a new AI-native service.
- Strong communication skills — able to present and defend design decisions clearly to non-designers, including senior stakeholders.

- designing corporate memory and governance frameworks for advanced technologies
- building and continuously improving technology platforms
- working with partners to co-create new tools and capabilities
- translating complex technical or regulatory concepts into practical solutions
- contributing to the evolution of products, research, or partnerships.

Examples may include:
- Highest levels of security and compliance including SOC2, Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO, etc. enabling a capability that sails through DD
- Strong pipeline of validated product opportunities
- Successful launch of new capabilities with measurable customer adoption
- Clear linkage between innovation activity and commercial growth

Practical Details
- Location: In office 3 days a week, hybrid — Northwest England, limited travel to London
- Team: within Product organisation.
- Role Type: permanent, full-time role.
- Salary: competitive, dependent on experience
- Reports to: Product Director
- Works closely with: Technical Director, and the wider Product and Engineering team
