We are seeking an experienced Assistant/Production Accountant to manage the financial and operational controls of unscripted productions. This role focuses heavily on production cost management and cost tracking, working closely with the Production Manager, Line Producer, and Senior Production Accountant to ensure accurate, timely financial oversight across all stages of production.
Key Responsibilities
Production Cost Control & Reporting
- Maintain and update detailed cost reports, ensuring real-time visibility of actuals, accruals, and committed spend.
- Work with the Production Manager to forecast cost impacts, highlight variances, and flag budget pressures early.
- Track all production expenditure across departments including camera, editorial, art, transport, locations, set operations, and post.
- Prepare weekly or bi-weekly cost summaries for senior stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise financial insights.
- Support the Senior Production Accountant with consolidation of costs into overall production reporting.
- Support a team of finance on raising and tracking of the POs and posting invoices and expenses (via Soldo).

Collaboration with Production Teams
- Work closely with the Production Management team on day-to-day cost monitoring, approvals, and departmental financial communication.
- Attend production meetings to provide financial clarity, scenarios, and guidance on spending decisions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for departmental heads on coding, budget queries, and spending protocols.
Payroll & Petty Cash
- Oversee crew payroll postings, petty cash as a part of Cost manager reviews.
- Validate and code petty cash reconciliations, per diems, and float requests from production crew.
- Provide support in preparing monthly timekeeping report for Central Services, to facilitate accurate allocation of monthly payroll costs.
Accounts Payable & Purchasing
- Code, review and assign purchase orders, invoices, and expenses to the correct budget lines.
- Ensure purchasing follows company policy and production controls.
- Track committed spend and liaise with vendors on billing queries where needed.
Cost Systems & Workflow Management
- Maintain accurate digital filing of invoices, POs, petty cash, and payroll records.
- Is well versed with production management systems (Octopus PMI preferred, but not essential)
- Support setup and maintenance of cost structures and approval processes.

Support to Senior Production Accountant
- Assist with cost consolidation, cashflow updates, funding drawdowns, and final cost reporting.
- Contribute to month-end processes including accruals and journal entries.
- Provide backup cover for key tasks as needed.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong background as a Production Accountant or Assistant Production Accountant on film/TV/streaming projects.
- Thorough understanding of production budgeting and cost reporting.
- Excellent knowledge of production workflows and how financial decisions impact schedules and operations.
- High proficiency in Excel and production accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident communicator able to work across finance and production teams.
Desirable
- Familiarity with multi-currency productions or co-productions.
- Experience with large-scale HETV or feature film workflows.
