About The Role

Production Controller

Full-Time, 24 Month FTC

Westhill, Aberdeen

The Role

As Production Controller you will play a key role in driving operational excellence and business performance by leading the UK Production Planning team, ensuring effective resource utilisation and delivering robust production plans that support customer satisfaction, profitability, and on-time delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and maintain production job packs, work orders and manufacturing documentation to support efficient production scheduling and execution.
  • Ensure production drawings, specifications and documentation are accurately controlled and issued to manufacturing teams in a timely manner.
  • Create, review and optimise manufacturing routings within the ERP/MRP system, ensuring production processes are accurately reflected and maintained.
  • Define and manage product lead times to support effective planning, scheduling and on-time delivery performance.
  • Maintain accurate and effective Bills of Materials (BOMs), supporting efficient manufacturing and cost control.
  • Drive BOM standardisation and simplification through the effective use of common parts, structures and phantom assemblies where appropriate.
  • Safeguard the integrity of production master data, ensuring routings, BOMs and planning parameters remain accurate, consistent and up to date.
  • Support the timely implementation of engineering changes, ensuring all production data and documentation are updated accordingly.
  • Work closely with Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Production teams to resolve data issues, improve data accuracy and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities focused on manufacturing data quality, process efficiency and planning performance.
  • Support operational excellence by ensuring manufacturing data and documentation provide a robust foundation for production planning and execution.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems to manage routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), lead times and production master data.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and production control principles.
  • Experience creating and maintaining production documentation, including work orders, job packs and manufacturing records.
  • Good knowledge of BOM structures, product configuration management and the use of phantom assemblies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to analyse and interpret data effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a strong focus on data accuracy, consistency and integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Planning, Engineering, Procurement and Production teams.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, focused on simplifying processes, enhancing data quality and improving operational performance.
  • Advanced understanding of production planning, scheduling and inventory management principles.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or a related discipline (desirable).
