Job Description
Your New Role
We are looking for a diligent, organised and highly proactive Production Coordinator to support the smooth running of LBC’s newsroom operation. Working closely with the management team, you will be responsible for coordinating rotas, managing resources and supporting the successful onboarding of new team members.
You will help to ensure we have the right people in the right place at the right time, while responding quickly to changing editorial priorities and the demands of a live newsroom.
This is a role for someone who thrives on organisation, communication and problem-solving, and who isn’t fazed by an ever-changing news environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Rota Management – Fill and manage rotas for the LBC production team, ensuring shifts are appropriately staffed and annual leave/sickness is covered accordingly.
- Editorial Resourcing – Work closely with editorial managers and teams to ensure the newsroom is appropriately resourced across all shifts and shows, identifying gaps and finding solutions when things change.
- Planning & Coordination – Support forward planning for staffing around major news events, elections and other key moments, helping coordinate staffing.
- Reactive Problem Solving – Respond quickly to last-minute changes, keeping teams informed and finding practical solutions in a fast-moving news environment.
- Talent & Performance Support – Build strong relationships with producers and editorial managers to develop a good understanding of individual strengths and performance. Help identify emerging talent and high performers, gather feedback from presenters, managers and teams, and support conversations around job and development opportunities.
- Communication & Collaboration – Act as a key point of contact for production teams, ensuring information about rotas and staffing changes is communicated clearly and promptly.
- Systems & Administration – Keep newsroom systems, rota information and relevant records accurate and up to date, helping to ensure the editorial operation runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Onboarding – Help onboard new team members, including organising all relevant training.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
