Hays Engineering is partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation in the Dungannon area to recruit a Production Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive business that continues to invest in product development, innovation, and engineering excellence.

The Opportunity

As a Production Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of products and manufacturing processes. Working closely with production, manufacturing, and project teams, you will ensure designs are optimised for quality, cost, performance, and manufacturability. This position would suit an engineer who enjoys combining technical design work with practical manufacturing problem-solving in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software
  • Design new products and enhance existing product ranges
  • Support manufacturing teams with design modifications and production improvements
  • Ensure products are designed for efficient manufacture and assembly
  • Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, procurement, and project management
  • Investigate engineering challenges and implement practical solutions
  • Support prototype development, product testing, and validation activities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across design and manufacturing functions
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry and safety standards

About You

  • Degree or HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience in a Mechanical Design, Product Design, or Production Design Engineering role
  • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks experience highly desirable)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and engineering standards
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Experience managing projects and design changes would be advantageous
