Production Designer / Art Director — Client Project
Aru Labs | Project-based opportunity
Aru Labs is looking for a Production Designer / Art Director for an upcoming independent web-series project being produced for a client.
This is a project-based opportunity, not a permanent position at Aru Labs.
The series is a character-driven story exploring startups, ambition, relationships, friendship, money, and life.
We're looking for someone who can help create a distinctive, believable visual world for the characters and story.
What you'll do
- Develop the visual and production design direction for the series
- Work closely with the Director and DOP
- Help define the look and feel of key locations
- Research and identify suitable locations
- Design spaces that reflect the characters and their changing circumstances
- Plan props, furniture, set dressing, and environmental details
- Create moodboards and visual references
- Help prepare production design requirements before filming
- Coordinate sourcing, rentals, and purchases where required
- Maintain visual continuity between scenes and locations
- Work with the production team to achieve the desired look within a lean production setup

What we're looking for
- Experience in production design, art direction, set design, styling, or visual storytelling
- Strong visual sense
- Ability to build a world through spaces, objects, and details
- Good understanding of color, texture, composition, and atmosphere
- Strong research and sourcing skills
- Comfortable working with a lean independent production
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Director and DOP
- Experience in films, web series, commercials, music videos, photography, or editorial projects is welcome.
Working arrangement
- Remote: Yes, during pre-production
- Travel: Required during production
- Engagement: Project-based / contract
- Production window: Late November – early December
- Potential locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, London, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bali, and other global creative and startup hubs
- International and India-based candidates are welcome.

You will work closely with:
- Creator / Writer / Director
- Director of Photography
- 1st Assistant Director
- Production Coordinator
- Costume / styling team
- Actors and creative talent
The production will be intentionally lean and collaborative.
Ideal candidate
You might be a good fit if you:
- Notice the details most people overlook
- Can turn a script into a visual environment
- Understand how locations can reveal character
- Know how to make a space feel expensive, lived-in, ambitious, or uncertain without overspending
- Enjoy sourcing unusual locations and objects
- Can work creatively within practical constraints
