About The Role

We are looking for a proactive and driven Production Engineer to join our Engineering team at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, Tewkesbury.

This is a varied and hands-on role that combines technical problem solving, continuous improvement, project delivery and new product introduction. You will provide engineering support across manufacturing operations, working closely with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Process Engineering teams to deliver timely solutions to production challenges, improve manufacturing performance and support business growth.

You'll be a key contributor to driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, reducing waste and ensuring our manufacturing processes remain safe, effective and capable of meeting customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Production Support

  • Provide technical support for the manufacture of TSS Tewkesbury products.
  • Support Operations and Production Support Technicians in resolving day-to-day manufacturing issues.
  • Attend daily operational reviews and coordinate completion of engineering actions.
  • Support the achievement of key business metrics including quality, scrap reduction, on-time delivery and productivity.
  • Investigate production concerns and implement robust corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate responses to quality deviations and customer returns, working with cross-functional teams to identify long-term solutions.
  • Support rework activities, process trials and implementation of manufacturing improvements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead manufacturing improvement projects from concept through to implementation.
  • Use data and structured problem-solving techniques to identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost reduction and process optimisation.
  • Apply Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies to improve profitability and operational performance.
  • Review manufacturing processes, equipment capability and production layouts to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive change management activities and ensure sustainable improvements are embedded within operations.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, ensuring designs are capable of being produced efficiently and consistently.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to assess manufacturability and production feasibility.
  • Assist in production trials, process evaluations and validation activities.
  • Contribute to technical quotations and proposals supporting business growth opportunities.

Projects & Capital Investment

  • Manage engineering and improvement projects in line with agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Investigate and propose new equipment, tooling and production methods to enhance manufacturing capability.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of capital expenditure projects.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance teams to maximise equipment performance and reliability.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Assist in the preparation and approval of technical documentation, drawings and specifications.
  • Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, work instructions, visual aids and training materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant quality, environmental and health & safety requirements.
  • Promote safe working practices and continuous improvement across the manufacturing environment.

You'll be comfortable balancing daily operational support with longer-term improvement projects and will thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • HND in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
  • Experience of process improvement and manufacturing controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional working skills.

  • Working hours: 37 hours, Monday - Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm, Friday 8:00am - 1:00pm
