Mid-level engineer · Full-time · Permanent · Primarily on-site · London
Own hands-on design failure analysis and turn prototypes into robust, repeatable manufactured products.
Why join us now
e-nano ROBOTICS is entering its next stage of growth. As we move into our new London headquarters and workshop, we're expanding our team to scale the development, manufacturing and deployment of our robotics, sensing and AI systems. We're looking for practical, ambitious people who want to take ownership, build real products and help shape how a growing UK robotics company operates.
The role
We are looking for a Production Engineer / DFMEA Engineer with master's-level engineering training (or equivalent demonstrated capability) and several years of relevant experience to take hands-on ownership of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and product industrialisation across our robotics and sensing hardware. This is an individual-contributor engineering role, not a technician position or a purely coordinating FMEA facilitator.
You will personally develop and maintain analyses, work with designers to identify and reduce failure risks, and translate engineering designs into robust assembly, verification and production processes. You will collaborate with the CTO, engineering team, workshop and Manufacturing & Scale-up Lead. Engineering retains product design authority; the Manufacturing & Scale-up Lead owns overarching manufacturing and supply-chain strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Personally plan, create, facilitate where useful, document and maintain detailed product and subsystem DFMEAs across mechanical, electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
- Define functions, failure modes, effects, causes, existing controls and risk-prioritised mitigation actions; track actions to closure and verify effectiveness.
- Link DFMEA findings to design changes, requirements, verification plans, tests, build instructions and engineering change control.
- Carry out hands-on design reviews, prototype inspection, fault investigation and testing to validate failure hypotheses.
- Support design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA), tolerance reviews, manufacturability and reliability improvements.
- Develop and improve production processes, assembly instructions, jigs, fixtures, test plans and quality checks.
- Support prototype builds and first production batches directly in the workshop, including root-cause analysis of build and field issues.
- Work with engineering and production on BOM accuracy, configuration control, traceability and supplier-related technical risks.
- Contribute to product compliance and technical documentation as appropriate, including CE/UKCA readiness.
- Help establish a pragmatic, repeatable risk and reliability engineering process suited to a growing hardware company.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Essential experience
- Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, mechatronics, systems or related engineering, or equivalent professional engineering capability.
- Mid-level professional experience developing or industrialising complex physical products.
- Demonstrated hands-on ownership of DFMEA, including drafting analyses, identifying actions and closing risks; not only attending FMEA meetings.
- Strong mechanical/electromechanical engineering fundamentals, manufacturing awareness and structured root-cause problem solving.
- Experience translating product designs into practical build, test and verification activities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
- Comfortable working directly with prototypes and production staff in a workshop.
- Strong written documentation, cross-functional communication and independent execution.
