What's the role?
The Production Engineer is responsible for providing technical and engineering support to the manufacture of current transformers and associated products.
The role acts as a key interface between Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and external suppliers, ensuring manufacturing processes are safe, efficient, repeatable and capable of consistently producing products to the required quality and specification.
This role will support both new and existing products, with particular focus on improving manufacturing processes, resolving production issues, introducing new equipment and tooling, reducing waste and supporting continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to production, resolving technical, process and equipment-related issues.
- Develop, improve and standardise manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality and repeatability.
- Investigate production issues and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, process specifications, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor manufacturing performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, capacity and utilisation.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are designed with consideration for operator safety, ergonomics and quality.
- Lead and support Continuous Improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, labour content, scrap, rework and production downtime.
- Identify requirements for new production equipment, machinery, tooling, jigs and fixtures.
- Develop technical specifications and support the procurement of new manufacturing equipment.
- Work with suppliers during equipment design, manufacture, installation and commissioning.

What we’re Looking For:
- Degree, HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement qualification
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with CAD systems is essential Creo / SolidWorks.
- Ability to analyse manufacturing data and produce reports.
- Understanding of manufacturing equipment, tooling and automation.
- Ability to develop technical specifications for tooling and equipment.
- Experience with creating and printing 3D manufacturing jigs and fixtures
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider engineering team.

Combined with the extensive design knowledge of instrument transformers this allowed the company to develop a reputation not only as a manufacturer of product, but also as the provider of a technical support service to guide and assist customers in the determination of the correct instrument transformer solution for their needs.
