The Production Engineering Lead

The Production Engineering Lead is a hands-on role leading the team responsible for productionising the ALL.SPACE products. This role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining efficient manufacturing processes and systems to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and scalable production. It requires technical ownership of these deliverables, and managing a multi-discipline team (hardware, software, RF, mechanical) to deliver them.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and oversee manufacturing support, diagnosing and resolving production failures to keep production flowing
  • Own our RF Calibration and Antenna Measurement systems (compact range and near-field), collecting test data and using it to optimise throughput and yield
  • Architect Automated Production Test Systems, designing equipment that finds component or manufacturing issues as early as possible in the build process
  • Lead a multi-discipline team in the delivery of the Automated Production Test Systems
  • Ensure all production documentation, work instructions, test procedures, and manufacturing records are maintained and delivered in accordance with business and manufacturing partner requirements
  • Publish engineering designs to manufacturing, under effective version control and change management
  • Work with the hardware team to address part shortages, alternate components and other production issues.

Requirements

  • Candidate must hold a degree in an Engineering Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. program.
  • Expertise in the design, implementation and delivery of bespoke production automation lines, including automated test rigs and PCBA verification.
  • Capable, personally and via the leadership of others, of diagnosing, resolving and preventing future occurrences of production issues.
  • Experience using production data to drive improvement, including failure coding, touch time analysis and yield dashboards.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex RF systems, with familiarity across RF, Digital, Software, Hardware, Mechanical and Thermal concerns
  • Knowledge of Satellite Communications, constellations, modems, and related technologies
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment, good cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with changing needs and requirements; ability to meet tough goals under pressure and manage your time effectively.

As the manager of the Production Engineering team, the lead is expected to:

  • Ensure that the team understand the wider context, both overall objectives and tactical concerns
  • Manage the team's day to day activity to achieve the key responsibilities
  • Recruitment, retention and development of team members
  • Be able to organise a wider team including staff from other manager's teams
  • Engage with the heads of other teams to ensure alignment and provide mutual support
