Production & Fulfilment Assistant | Oxford, UK
We are hiring a Production & Fulfilment Assistant to join our Production & Operations team at Berghahn Books. Founded in 1994, we are an independent publisher of distinguished scholarly books and journals in the humanities and social sciences. Our program, which includes 40 journals and over 125 new titles a year, spans Anthropology, History, and Film Studies.
We offer the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the publishing process and develop a broad understanding of academic publishing within an international, close-knit team.
What you'll do:
You'll be the key person for production support and order fulfilment across our books and journals programs — working closely with Production, Marketing, Journals, Sales and Finance. You'll:

- Support book and journal production tasks — from Print-on-Demand and CIP/DOI applications to proof reviews, cover artwork and epub/ebook uploads
- Manage customer enquiries on orders, availability and shipping, and resolve fulfilment issues with printers and distributors
- Coordinate journal fulfilment (issues, annuals, member copies) and subscription/membership deliveries
- Keep production and supplier records accurate and up to date
What you'll bring:
- A genuine interest in publishing and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Previous office experience, ideally in publishing, is a plus
