Joseph Stannah founded the business in 1867. A lot has happened since then and today Stannah is a global business. The family is in their fifth generation and plays a hands-on role in running the business. Most people know us for our stairlifts. Our range of products includes lifts, escalators, and homelifts. We also provide maintenance and repair services.

Job Description

Production Manager Jobs in Newcastle Upon Tyne at Stannah Rail Manufacturing - Join Our Team!

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join Stannah Stairlift Manufacturing Site based at our Newburn site, Newcastle Upon Tyne.

This role will involve leading all manufacturing activities across the rail production operation, ensuring world-class standards in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People Development are achieved. You will provide both strategic and operational leadership, driving continuous improvement initiatives while developing a high-performing and engaged workforce.

As the Production Manager, you will work full-time hours Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:45, Friday 08:00 to 13:00 with flexibility required to support business and plant needs.

This role is a permanent contract offering a great opportunity for an experienced manufacturing leader looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced production environment, leading large teams and driving operational excellence.

Production Manager Responsibilities:

  • Champion a Safety First culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Lead day-to-day production operations to achieve customer demand, OTIF, productivity and efficiency targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles to enhance operational performance.
  • Develop, coach and lead production teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous learning.
  • Manage quality performance, budgets, resources and cross-functional relationships to support business objectives.

Production Manager Requirements:

  • Significant experience in a manufacturing leadership role with responsibility for multiple production teams.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills with a proven track record of delivering operational improvements.
  • Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, performance management and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Level 5 qualification in Management/Leadership, IOSH Managing Safely and experience of Six Sigma/RCCA methodologies.
