About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Manager to join our growing friendly team, at Niftylift. The role is based at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hoyland, Barnsley.

Main Tasks of the Role

  • Oversee and lead the site production, in line with company strategy and key performance indicators.
  • Efficient organisation and utilisation of material, staff, processes, and layout including compliance with health and safety standards, skills flexibility, and commercial achievement of product quality, delivery and cost requirements.
  • Effectively manage/eliminate bottleneck constraints and drive throughput improvement.
  • Manage, implement and sustain continuous improvement through Niftylift Lean Manufacturing techniques, layouts and philosophies throughout the complete production area, including single piece flow principles (where applicable). Removal of non value added activities through each of the value streams, always with the principle aim of throughput improvement.
  • Encourage and facilitate improvements promoted from the employee teams. Measuring, reporting and managing performance indicators within each team.
  • Support new product introduction and outsourcing activities.
  • People/culture development and training in alignment with new methods/practices/products being introduced.
  • Ensure comprehensive TPM procedures and activities are adhered to. Maintain full understanding and adherence to ISO 9001/ISO14001/18001 standards. Manage H&S and environmental activities and improvements within the production area.
  • Ensure a high standard of housekeeping throughout the facility.
  • Ensuring company procedures are complied with, along with the thorough management of discipline, with an agreed comprehensive and structured methodology
  • Attend and support stakeholder meetings, supporting Team Leaders / Section Managers to achieve improvements.
  • Planning of daily output targets in line with Kanban min/max targets, changes in line speed and any changes in priority from the build lines at Milton Keynes.
  • Management of overtime to meet output targets, control of direct labour costs and improve Team Efficiency.
  • Monthly review of capacity plans in line with Build Lines at MK, reviewing labour requirements to support significant changes in output requirements.
  • Develop Production Management Systems in line with Niftylift Standards for the implementation of Lean Manufacturing
  • Support the Section Managers to ensure Company HR Policies and Procedures are followed and the mitigation of risk to Niftylift.

  • Minimum 5 years in a Production Management role within a Manufacturing environment
  • Preferably Automotive background (not essential), must demonstrate an understanding of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline or evidence of extensive experience working in an engineering / production environment
  • Computer literate: Standard Microsoft tools, Excel, Word, Powerpoint. ERP system user.

Working Hours & Salary

Working hours for the role are 40 per week (07:30 - 16:30, Monday - Thursday and 07:30 - 13:30 on Friday). Site based. Guaranteed basic starting salary £26.32 x 40 hours per week plus guaranteed minimum £50 per week bonus - £57,345.00 per annum. Overtime paid at premium rates outlined below:

  • Level A - Overtime paid at premium rate of £39.48 per hour (i.e. x 1.5).
  • Level B - Overtime paid at premium rate of £52.64 per hour (i.e. x 2.0).
