Who are MYT Shutters?
MYT Shutters is an international shutter manufacturer with over 300 people across the UK, Europe, Australia, and China. For over 20 years, we've focused on designing, developing, and manufacturing high-quality window shutters for the trade market.
Manufacturing is at the heart of what we do. We operate our own production facilities in China and Australia, giving us direct control over how our products are developed, manufactured, and continuously improved. Our range includes our own patented product innovations and manufacturing solutions, developed by a small, experienced team with a strong focus on quality, precision, and practical problem-solving.
We’re bringing manufacturing to the UK.
Our ambition is to become the UK's number one trade supplier of shutters—and establishing our own UK manufacturing operation is a major part of achieving that.
This is an important next step for MYT. UK manufacturing will allow us to produce closer to our customers, increase capacity, improve lead times, and give us greater control over production as the UK business grows.
We're not taking over an established factory. We're building the operation from the ground up. That means setting up the machinery and production flow, establishing processes and quality standards, building the production team, and creating an operation capable of scaling significantly as demand grows.
We're looking for a Production Manager who wants to play a central role in making that happen.
The role specifics
This is a hands-on Production Manager position with responsibility for taking our new UK manufacturing operation from setup through to day-to-day production and future scale-up.
Technical Training in China
Your role will begin with 21–28 days of intensive, hands-on training at our established manufacturing facility in China, working directly alongside the experienced production teams who manufacture MYT products every day.

- Machinery, tooling, and production software

The objective is for you to return to the UK with a thorough technical understanding of MYT products, machinery, and manufacturing methods, ready to implement these standards within the new UK operation. Flights, accommodation, meals, translator support, and required business expenses will be provided by MYT.
Setting Up UK Production
Following your training, you will take responsibility for establishing the UK production operation and preparing it for live manufacturing. Working closely with the wider MYT team, you will be responsible for:
- Setting up tooling, machinery, and production workstations
- Establishing an efficient production flow
- Implementing and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Establishing quality control procedures and standards
- Planning production and build schedules
- Managing stock holding and rotation
- Recruiting and training the initial production team
- Ensuring operators are trained to use machinery safely and correctly
- Building a production environment capable of consistently meeting required lead times and quality standards
Running & Developing the Operation
Once production is live, this will remain a hands-on management role. You'll be expected to understand what's happening on the factory floor, work alongside the production team when required, and continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and output.
You'll take ownership of preventative maintenance procedures and be the first point of escalation for machinery and tooling issues, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and minor repairs to minimize production downtime.
Quality control ultimately sits with the Production Manager. Shutter manufacturing requires tight tolerances, accuracy, and consistency, and you'll be responsible for ensuring our processes, SOPs, maintenance standards, and team performance continue to deliver the level of quality our customers expect.

The operation will start relatively small, but we expect production demand to increase significantly throughout 2027 and beyond. As volumes grow, you'll help develop the operation through increased capacity, additional production staff, and shifts.
About you
We're looking for an experienced, practical Production Manager who is comfortable taking ownership and enjoys solving problems on the factory floor.
A woodworking/manufacturing background is important, alongside experience in:
- CNC machinery
- Creating and implementing SOPs
- Manufacturing and production processes
- Quality control and working to tight tolerances
- Production planning and build scheduling
- Stock management and rotation
- Preventative maintenance and machinery troubleshooting
- People management, including recruitment, training, HR responsibilities, and policy enforcement
Experience within the window coverings or shutter industry would be an advantage, but isn't essential. We will consider candidates from other manufacturing backgrounds who have the right technical and operational experience.
This role would suit someone who wants more than simply managing an established production line. You'll have the opportunity to help shape a new manufacturing operation from its early stages and develop your responsibilities as the UK business, production capacity, and team grow.

- £17.50 per hour
- 40-hour work week (overtime available)
