Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role is to lead and optimize the manufacturing and distribution operations, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operations, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. The role involves overseeing production, planning and stores, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance within the operations team. Additionally, the role requires strong leadership in mentoring and developing team members, ensuring adherence to ISO practices, and leveraging ERP systems to streamline processes and drive operational excellence.
Functions: Operations
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Planning
- Develop and execute plans to optimize the efficiency of the manufacturing and stores processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align operations with overall business objectives.
- Stress the importance of working with other departments to ensure smooth operations and quick resolution of issues.
Stores
- Collaborate with the Stores Manager to develop a daily work schedule.
- In partnership with the Stores Manager create a weekly inventory plan reconciling stock against held stock at third party storage.
- Organisation of cycle counts/stock & inventory locations.
- Implementation of correct stock data entry.
- In conjunction with the Stores Manager oversee the utilization of most effective areas for stock locations.
- In collaboration with the Stores manager oversee third party storage facilities, goods in, kit pick and dispatch of finished goods.
Production Planning and Control
- Develop and implement production schedules that meet customer demand while optimizing resource utilization and inventory levels.
- Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in meeting production goals.
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity.
- Lead and mentor the production team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Planning
- Collaborate with the Production Planner to ensure production plans meet customer needs while maximizing the efficiency of the production team.
- Working closely with the Production Planner to utilize available analytics and coordinate with Sales to estimate future product demands.
- Manage and prioritize execution steps, inventory, and shipments based on customer specifications and available parts.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing production team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support for professional development initiatives within the operations team.
- Analyzing all operational data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and collaborate with the cross-functional team (incl. procurement and production engineering) to improve manufacturing productivity and quality.
ERP Systems and IT
- MRP knowledge is essential including inventory management, bills of material, routings, works orders, purchase orders and sales order.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
Quality System Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build Quality into all aspects of their work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.
- Ensure the adherence to the Quality Management System compliant with ISO 13485.
- Cooperate with regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements in conjunction with the Quality Department.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Production Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in production management within the medical device industry and/or electronics industry.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 13485 standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Results-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
