Production Manager
(North) Birmingham | On-site | Manufacturing | Healthcare / Consumer Products
A well-established and highly reputable UK manufacturer is looking for an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of its manufacturing operation and drive the next phase of operational performance, efficiency and sustainable growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, people-focused Production Manager to join a stable and successful SME with a strong market reputation, loyal customer base and long-tenured team.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day production operation, leading the manufacturing team and ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, to the required quality and regulatory standards and on time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the day-to-day production operation and shop-floor team
- Planning and scheduling production to meet customer demand and delivery requirements
- Managing production performance, output, quality and efficiency
- Ensuring products are manufactured to the required quality and specification
- Managing production resources, capacity and workflow
- Developing, motivating and supporting the production team
- Working closely with Operations, Quality, Technical and Supply Chain teams
- Ensuring compliance with H&S, quality and regulatory standards
- Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste and increase efficiency
- Supporting wider operational strategy and business growth

About You
We are looking for a hands-on, people-focused Production Manager with:
- Proven experience managing a multi line production/manufacturing operation
- Ideally have a background in engineering (HNC or equivalent) as you would be overseeing a small engineering team
- Plant management knowledge - boilers, air compressors etc
- Ideally have experience within an SME size business
- Strong experience leading, developing and managing shop-floor teams
- Experience with production planning, scheduling and meeting customer deadlines
- A good understanding of quality and health and safety
- A down-to-earth personality, who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, building rapport with the team and getting involved in the day-to-day operation

Experience within consumer healthcare, medical devices, healthcare products, FMCG or similar regulated/product-based manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous within a regulated environment
