We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Food Production Manager to lead our High Care department within our Central Production Unit (CPU).
This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for a leader who thrives on the production floor, works alongside their team, and leads by example every day.
The Role
As Food Production Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the High Care department, ensuring our products are consistently produced to the highest quality standards while maintaining exceptional food safety and operational efficiency.
Working closely with the CPU Manager and production teams, you'll spend most of your time actively involved in production, preparation, packing, and dispatch activities, supporting the team and driving performance through a hands-on leadership approach.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading & Developing the Team
- Lead, motivate and support the High Care team through a highly hands-on management style.
- Work side by side with team members to ensure quality, productivity, and operational standards are consistently achieved.
- Build a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
- Schedule rotas, manage annual leave, and coordinate cover where required.
- Lead by example in work ethic, cleanliness, urgency, and attention to detail.

Driving Quality & Consistency
- Ensure all products are prepared to specification and meet B Bagel's quality standards.
- Maintain consistency across recipes, portioning, and presentation.
- Oversee quality control processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Promote a culture of excellence and pride in every product produced.
Managing Production Operations
- Oversee daily production activities to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure branch orders are prepared, packed, and dispatched correctly and on time.
- Manage stock control processes, investigate variances, and minimize waste.
- Place supplier orders and verify deliveries and invoices.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational performance.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain full compliance with HACCP, food safety, and quality management procedures.
- Ensure health and safety standards are consistently met across the operation.
- Conduct training and support team development.
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly operational checks.
- Champion our "Clean As You Go" culture and maintain exceptional housekeeping standards.

Communication
- Maintain effective communication across departments.

About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong operational leadership with a genuine passion for food quality.
You'll have:
- Experience leading teams in a food production, manufacturing, or high-volume kitchen environment.
- A strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and quality control processes.
- A culinary or food production background.
- Experience working towards KPIs and operational targets.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong communication and people management skills.
- Basic IT skills (advantageous).
