PRODUCTION MANAGER JOB VACANCY AVAILABLE

Are you an experienced Production Manager, Production Shift Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Abattoir Manager or Production Operations Manager seeking a new permanent job opportunity, and do you have previous experience working within the food manufacturing / food production sector?

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to join a well established food production business in Telford (Shropshire), the working hours are 7.00am:5.00pm Monday to Friday (45 hours per week), and the annual salary is up to A GBP 60,000 per annum (DOE).

The hiring manager is specifically looking for someone who has previous Abattoir experience within a manufacturing environment and can demonstrate a strong background in operating at a management level within an Abattoir.

What You Will Do

  • Lead daily abattoir operations as a Production Manager, taking full accountability for safe and effective performance.
  • Drive departmental KPIs including health and safety, yield, labour control, waste reduction, downtime management, quality, and compliance outcomes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, risk assessments, safe systems of work, HACCP controls, GMP standards, animal welfare requirements, and BRCGS expectations.
  • Coach and develop supervisors and operatives through performance conversations, 121s, training activities, and competency sign:off processes.
  • Maintain operational discipline by monitoring attendance, conduct, productivity, and behavioural standards, taking action where needed.
  • Partner with technical, maintenance, boning hall, offal, lairage, HR, and wider operational teams to improve production flow and audit readiness.

What You Will Bring

  • Previous experience at management level within an abattoir processing environment.
  • Strong understanding of animal welfare, food safety, hygiene, and compliance frameworks, including BRCGS expectations.
  • Proven people leadership ability in a fast:paced production setting, with confidence to manage performance fairly and consistently.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and operational controls, with a strong commitment to safe systems of work.
  • Good IT and systems awareness, including operational reporting and time and attendance tools.

Desirable

  • Food Safety Level 3.
  • HACCP Level 3.
  • Animal Welfare training or experience.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • IOSH or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.
  • Experience working with FSA and external auditors.
  • Continuous improvement experience within food manufacturing or primary processing.

This Production Manager role plays a vital part in delivering dependable, quality:led assured British beef processing, where service and efficiency matter.
