Job Title: Production Manager
Elevation Recruitment Group are excited to be exclusively partnered with a well established, privately owned engineering manufacturer in Barnsley, who are looking to appoint a Production Manager to take ownership of output, people and performance across their manufacturing site.
The business designs and builds capital equipment for an international customer base and has grown steadily over a number of years. This site feeds the group's final assembly operation, so the Production Manager plays a direct part in keeping the wider business moving, planning daily output against Kanban targets and changing demand, and reviewing capacity monthly as volumes shift.
This is a hands on leadership role with real scope to change things. The business wants a Production Manager who will challenge a "how we've always done it" culture, drive throughput through Lean and single piece flow, and develop Section Managers and Team Leaders so improvement sticks once it's in place.
Benefits:
- Business performance bonus
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
- 5% contributory pension, healthcare scheme and death in service cover

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
