Production Operative – Assembly & Engineering

Key Details

  • Job Type / Contract: Temp to Perm
  • Location: Braintree, Essex

  • Salary / Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour
  • Shift / Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am – 4:30pm; Friday, 7:30am – 1:30pm (40 hours per week, early Friday finish)

About The Role

All Square Recruitment is excited to partner with a well-established electrical manufacturing business based in Braintree, Essex, to recruit a dedicated Production Operative on a temp-to-perm basis. This hands-on role involves assembly, base tool preparation, and quality testing within a supportive, quality-focused team. As a result, it offers a genuine route to a permanent position, consistent weekday hours, and an early finish every Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare base tools for production, including drilling and tapping, hand priming, stop gluing, and jig and frame preparation.
  • Carry out dipping and trimming processes to a consistently high standard.
  • Assemble products accurately using hand tools, following revision-controlled work instructions and technical drawings.
  • Conduct quality checks and product testing in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Log production data accurately using the in-house computer system.
  • Work as part of a production team to meet planning requirements and customer due dates, promptly flagging any issues that could affect delivery.
  • Support and implement continuous process improvements within the manufacturing area.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and correct PPE, while keeping the work area clean and tidy.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or assembly environment is highly desirable.
  • Confidence using hand tools; experience with drilling, tapping, or mechanical assembly is advantageous.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and technical drawings.
  • Numeracy and literacy to GCSE Grade C / Grade 4 level (or equivalent).
  • Good data entry and general computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required.
  • Good communication skills and a reliable work ethic.
