Production Operative
Location: Bentham, Lancashire (Relocating to the Preston Area)
Department: Engineered Suppression Operations
Reports To: Plant Manager
About the Role
KiddeFenwal is seeking Production Operatives to join our Suppression Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the assembly, testing, filling, packing, and movement of fire suppression products and components that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer expectations.
The position is currently based in Bentham, Lancashire. As part of the Company's operational strategy, this role will relocate to the Preston area. Successful candidates must be willing and able to work from the Preston location upon completion of the site transition.
Key Responsibilities
Production Assembly
- Assemble fire suppression systems and components in accordance with manufacturing instructions and quality standards.
- Perform pressure testing and functional checks on suppression products.
- Complete production records accurately and timely.
Cylinder Filling Operations
- Assemble and fill suppression agent cylinders in accordance with established procedures.
- Handle chemical agents safely and comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
- Conduct visual and quality inspections throughout the filling process.

Stores and Materials Handling
- Locate, receive, and store inventory.
- Pick components and materials to support customer and production orders.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and support stock management activities.
Packing and Shipping
- Package suppression cylinders and related products for domestic and international shipment.
- Ensure compliance with road, air, and sea freight packaging requirements.
- Prepare products for safe transportation and delivery.
General Operations
- Rotate between work areas as required to support operational needs, holiday cover, and business demands.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Identify and report quality, safety, equipment, or process concerns.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Undertake additional duties reasonably requested by management.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently after training.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable, conscientious, and safety-focused approach to work.
- Flexibility to work across multiple production areas.

Desirable
- Previous manufacturing, assembly, warehouse, or production experience.
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
- Knowledge of quality, environmental, health, and safety procedures.
Health, Safety and Physical Requirements
- Comply with all Company Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
- Participate in all required safety training.
- Use Company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work within a production environment for extended periods.
Working Hours and Shift Requirements
- Employees must be willing to work the shift patterns necessary to support production requirements in accordance with applicable Company agreements and operational needs.
- Overtime may be required from time to time based on business requirements.
