We’re growing our production team at SMART Balustrades Ltd and are looking for a skilled, hands-on and motivated Production Operative to join us at our factory in Burntwood, Staffordshire.
This isn’t a role where every day is spent doing the same repetitive task. You’ll be involved in manufacturing and assembling the stainless steel and aluminium components that become finished balustrade and handrail systems installed on construction projects across the UK.

- Location: Burntwood, Staffordshire
- Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday
- Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
- Overtime: Available
- Role: Permanent, on-site, factory-based position
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of our production team, you’ll be involved in the manufacture and preparation of our balustrade and handrail systems, including:
- Manufacturing and assembling stainless steel handrail and balustrade systems
- Reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings
- Measuring, cutting, drilling and tapping stainless steel tube
- Cutting aluminium glass tracks
- TIG welding stainless steel base plates to posts
- Assembling components using glued joints and bolted connections
- Carrying out quality checks to ensure products meet specification
- Packaging completed products ready for dispatch
- Helping to maintain machinery and a clean, safe working environment
- Occasionally attending site where required

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, takes pride in producing quality work and has the drive to become an important part of our production team.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience working within a shop-floor or manufacturing environment
- Fitting and/or manufacturing experience
- A basic understanding of manufacturing drawings
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Confidence using your own initiative to solve problems
- A positive, can-do attitude
- A full clean driving licence

Experience welding stainless steel and holding a CSCS Card would be beneficial, but are not essential.
