Overview

Production Operative (Multiple roles available)
Humdinger Ltd, Sherburn in Elmet, LS25

As a Production Operative, you'll play a key role in creating the confectionery products that reach customers across the UK. You'll work within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This role would suit someone with experience in a bakery, food production, or similar environment and a keen eye for detail when following recipes, weighing ingredients, and working to precise measurements and processes.

Starting rate Grade 2 £15.08 per hour, with the potential of overtime at 150% and progressing to Grade 3 at £16.08 per hour.

Shift Pattern

We have two shift patterns available - the choice is yours!

  • 12-hour rotating shifts (days 6am-6pm & nights 6pm-6am) with NO Friday night, Saturday day, Saturday night or Sunday day shift working.
    • Week 1: 3 day shifts, followed by 2 days off
    • Week 2: 3 night shifts, followed by 5 days off
    • Week 3: 2 day shifts + 2 night shifts, followed by 5 days off, then repeat

OR

  • Monday - Sunday, 4 on 4 off, 06:00 - 18:00

Interviews

  • Interview & Factory Tour, Wednesday 26th August 2026, 1pm - 3pm - If you cannot attend, we may accommodate another date.
  • Multiple inductions running throughout September.

Responsibilities

  • Operate confectionery production processes including moulding, coating, polishing and panning.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report issues promptly.
  • Follow recipes, production plans and process controls accurately.
  • Complete quality, food safety and CCP checks.
  • Handle raw materials and production ingredients safely.
  • Complete cleaning and hygiene tasks to required standards.
  • Maintain accurate production and traceability records.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within your area.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow written procedures.
  • Ability to work safely, accurately and to quality standards.
  • Comfortable with manual handling activities.
  • Team player with a positive and reliable approach.
  • Ability to work to productivity and performance targets.

Desirable:

  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Food Safety Level 2 qualification.
  • Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience supporting or coaching colleagues.

Humdinger’s Sherburn-in-Elmet site is a fast-growing confectionery facility producing over 5,000 tonnes of chocolate and snacking products annually. With advanced technologies including belt coating, button manufacture, drop rolling, and hard panning, the site supports a diverse customer base across retail, third-party, and B2B channels. The site offers a dynamic environment where technical leadership plays a pivotal role in driving quality, compliance, and innovation.
