The Production Operative works on the busy Rushden food manufacturing site within the Produce – Production department. You will operate machinery, monitor product flow, and uphold strict food safety standards while driving efficiency and minimizing waste. This role is vital to delivering fresh, high-quality produce to our customers and supporting the overall performance of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and set up production line equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor product quality, temperature, and weight against specifications.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of work areas and machinery.
  • Record production data, batch numbers, and any deviations accurately.
  • Assist with stock handling, including receiving, staging, and palletising.
  • Identify and report equipment faults or safety hazards promptly.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to boost throughput and reduce waste.
  • Follow HACCP, GMP, and company food safety procedures at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily targets.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and compliant work environment.

  • GCSEs or equivalent, preferably in English and Mathematics.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or production environment.
  • Understanding of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP).
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, including weekends.
  • Physical fitness to stand, lift up to 25kg, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic numeracy and ability to record data accurately.
  • Team-player with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow training on equipment operation.
  • Valid food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
