Production Operative – Aerospace Manufacturing
Location: Chalgrove, Oxfordshire – 20 minutes from Oxford
Salary: £28,500 basic | £34,941 after training
Shift: Days initially, moving to 4 on / 4 off
Hours: 37 hours per week during training
Job Type: Permanent
Syntech Recruitment are recruiting for a Production Operative to join a leading aerospace and defence manufacturer at their Chalgrove facility near Oxford.
This is not a standard warehouse packing position. You’ll work within a specialist manufacturing environment, packing and palletising safety-critical cartridge sets and rocket motors in accordance with engineering instructions and strict quality procedures.
For the first six months, you’ll complete structured training on a 37-hour day shift with a salary of £28,500. Once successfully trained, you’ll move onto a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, 07:00–16:30, receiving a 22.6% shift uplift which increases your salary to approximately £34,941 per annum.

Production Operative Responsibilities
- Pack and palletise specialist aerospace products in line with engineering instructions
- Prepare, package and label products accurately for dispatch
- Receive and check materials, goods and stock entering the department
- Ensure products are correctly identified using part and batch numbers
- Maintain accurate stock and production records using SAP
- Operate packing and palletising equipment safely
- Follow engineering documentation, specifications and work instructions
- Ensure products meet required quality and inspection standards
- Work in accordance with Health & Safety procedures and Safe Systems of Work
- Support 5S and continuous improvement activities within the department

What We’re Looking For
- Previous manufacturing, production, engineering or stores experience
- Experience with packing, palletising or preparing manufactured products for dispatch
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Ability to follow engineering instructions and procedures
- Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment
- SAP experience would be advantageous
- Dangerous Goods – Air, Sea and Road training would be advantageous
